Re: donation favors
We are donating to the American Cancer Society. I went to their site and sent them an email and someone got back to me (not just a form email response). She said we can work out the details over internet or phone. They'll supply donation cards (if you want) for a minimum of $1 donation a guest. I think we are doing just this charity...was thinking of doing two but probably not going to be spending double the money...FH wanted the livestrong bracelets (which they'll also do for $1 each, but I kind of didn't want the yellow bracelets on every plate! I would visit the website of whichever charity you are interested in. St Jude Childrens Hospital, Susan B. Komen, American Heart Assn., MAke a Wish..whatever is close to your heart!

Re: donation favors
I convinced FH to do donation favors! I don't have a charity yet, but am thinking about Doctors Without Borders, an organization I want to work for in the future.

Re: donation favors
I wanted to do donations, but FH was all weird about it when I brought it up. We will see (I am sure I can change his mind)

Re: donation favors
I think donations are great...every time I have gone to a wedding and found out that a donation was made it made me really happy. Not knocking all the crafty and very cute favor ideas on here at all..I just feel that the majority of the time favors get left at the wedding or end up collecting dust somewhere, and a donation could have a more far-reaching impact.
The internet is a huge resource for donating....just google an area you are considering donating to...many sites have links for donations and you can see how they allocate the $ they receive

Re: donation favors
We're doing donation favors. I volunteer at an animal shelter, so the donation will be made there. (We get a plaque put on one of the dog kennels!) Each guest will have a scroll at their place that explains the donation and has a little bio on a dog the donation will help.
If you decide to do a donation, think about the issues that are important to you and FH. As long as you know the money is going to a reputable place, that's the important part!

Re: donation favors
My SIL did St. Jude's Children's hosptial. They made the donation and then printed out cards saying a donation was made in the guests names. She decorated the cards with satin ribbons in her colors.

Re: donation favors
I'm doing them for the Breast Cancer Coalition. They're going to send me a bunch of pink ribbons and then we'll print up a little scroll. I think it's a great idea! You spend so much on these weddings it's nice to put at least part of it towards helping people

Re: donation favors
We are doing the FDNY burn center in honor of my dad (he was not a burn victim but a fireman). they sent us wording that previous brides had used. We are going to print up scrolls with a note and put them on each place.

Re: donation favors
We are donating to two places. 1st - no kill animal shelter and the 2nd is a military donation that sends packages to the troops oversees.
I'm going to put a thank you card on each plate (every other plate) saying what places we donated to.
