Donation in ADDITION to favors? What do you think of this?

So, I'm giving out Christmas ornaments as our favor... I'm also having a candy buffet.

I had a light bulb go off in my head this morning on the way to work. My wedding is in November. Every Christmas, I pick an orphanage or center for children with disabilities and collect toys to bring to them for Christmas. I was thinking of making a Christmas toy donation as part of my favor in the name of my guests to the Center for Developmental Disabilities. I would LOVE to do this, just because it's a favorite toy charity of mine. I would probably do this anyway... it would just be a nice way to tie it into my wedding.

Should I print some info on a card and put it in the box with the favor? Something like:

We hope you enjoy hanging this Christmas ornament on your tree year after year!

In addition, Sarah and Joe will be making a donation of Christmas presents this year in the name of their wedding guests to one of their favorite charities, The Center for Developmental Disabilites. Please pray for these special children as you celebrate the holidays this season! Thank you!

i have always loved the idea of doing a donation. i think that's very thoughtful sarah and i think your guests will love it-- and of course, the people benefitting from the donation will be extremely grateful.

we are doing a donation to madd and i'm so excited about it it really makes me feel so amazing to give to something good-- something that will do good and will help people.

ETA: i love how you were able to tie something into the donation. i didn't do that b/c i couldn't think of anything that went with the madd donation-- but yours goes perfectly!!

Sarah - I think that is GREAT. It very thoughtful and the wording is perfect. Yes, I think you should include it on the ornament box.

We decided originally to do a donation favor, but now we're also doing a CD favor as well. I think the donation is a great touch (if you have the $$ to do it) and your guests will appreciate that you thought of those less fortunate (it's also a TAX DEDUCTION!!!).

We are doing a sand dollar ornament that will serve as favor and placecard...and we are also doing a donation to ACS...another bride posted this link to cute donation cards.....we are going to use these......figured I would pass it on again...GL!!!
