Donation instead of Favor

FH and I are pretty set on doing a donation instead of favors. My question is, who are you donating to?

DH's mother passed away a few years back (coincidentally, 4 years ago yesterday ). We are donating to the American Heart Association because it was heart related. I never got to meet her and I really want to bring her memory into it as much as possible. I can't help but feel like I am missing on on having a wonderful mother in law.

Otherwise I would have donated to Hospice, which made my grandfather's last days comfotable and helped my family in so many wonderful ways.

As long as it is something that you feel strongly about it is appropriate. I had a friend make donations to the ASPCA, and knowing how close this was to her heart made it a very nice gesture.

We want to do either Christopher Reeve Foundation or some other foundation that specialises in spinal injuries.

My younger brother is a Marine and thankfully, alive and well. However, he lost many good friends as he fought side by side them in Iraq and Afghanistan. So, we will be donating to the Wounded Warrior Project. We are planning to put a card on everyone's table and make a special announcement in the beginning go the wedding to surprise my brother. This was really important to me and thankfully, my FH was on board :)

We are probably doing Ruff House Rescue, where we got our pup from and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center! They both have personal meaning to us.

We are donating to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society instead of favors. FH Grandma and my mom both have Leukemia so it is close to our hearts. HTH!
