My FH and I are contemplating a donation favor instead of actual favors for each guest. We wanted to do a donation to the Red Cross or something similar. He is not convinced that it is appropriate to not give people something to bring home. I gave him a link to look at different kinds of favors, but he says he can't find anything he likes.
Did anyone else have problems getting their FH to get on board with this type of favor idea?
Thanks, Kacie

Re: Donation Wedding Favor?
He can't find anything he likes because a lot of favors are on the chintzy side and end up in the trash or a junk drawer. Tell him that!
What if you did a donation and a small edible favor...like truffles, personalized M&Ms, or something like that?

Re: Donation Wedding Favor?
I think it is a great idea. FH is totally on board. However, I do have to admit It is a little different as my father passed away from cancer and we are donating the American Cancer Society so he probably wouldn't say anything even if he didn't agree.

Re: Donation Wedding Favor?
donation favors are very 'in' recently
All favors are either very cheezy or very expensive. We didn't want to waste money on something that would get thrown out
FH and I are making a donation to the World Wildlife Fund and also giving jordan almonds.

We are doing this for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, since I have MS it is a cause close to our hearts. I created a beautiful letter or paper matching my colors and sealed it with a wax seal that has a peacock on it for westbury manor. let me see if i can find you the link for the letter the paper is folded and cut a certain way so it can be placed on everyone's setting, they really came nice. we found it on Martha Stewarts website.

Re: Donation Wedding Favor?
I bought organza bags on ebay for a steal and I am going to fill them with some sort of candy with a donation card attached! I think that that is a happy medium for both of you!
were doing a donation and FH is fine with it. I had family and friends who did this as well, and they just did something small on the side nothing too big.

Re: Donation Wedding Favor?
I didn't have a problem convincing FH to give a donation because we are donating to the morgan stanley childrens hospital in memory of his nephew. I made up donation cards for real cheap on the vistaprint website and i bought place cards holders for the donation cards to go in at each place setting. The place card holders are nice quality and people could use it for pics, notes, etc. so we thought it \could be functional too.

Re: Donation Wedding Favor?
I think its great people want to donate to a charity. But I think you should also thank your guests for coming and sharing your day whether it be a cheesy trinket or edible favor. So if I was doing the charity route I would definitely give them candies or something with it. JMO

Re: Donation Wedding Favor?
Hey Kacie! Welcome I initially suggested the donation idea to FH and while he wasn’t necessarily on board at first; he took the initiative in finding an organization he liked (which I loved) and he’s now completely at ease with the idea. However, I also wanted to give my guests something to take away as a small thank you and to tie in the little note detailing to organization (Operation Smile). I wanted to find something affordable (per couple) & practical…
Suggestions: Letter Opener, Coffee Scoop, Edible favor, Double the place card holder as the favor, flower seeds, Luggage Tags, Bookmark, Coasters, Olive (Love) Tray, Spreader, Reed Stick Diffuser, Pizza Cutter, Cup & Saucer, Bottle Opener… I have an awesome website I found; I haven’t ordered from there yet so I’m hesitant on recommending via reply but feel free to FM and I’d be happy to provide the link. If your FH can’t find something he likes, perhaps you can find something you like - narrow down a couple choices for him and have him choose between those. At first, I had so much trouble involving FH and I soon found out that if I leave him out of the research part of things and present him with my final choices – he’s much more inclined to make a decision and his attention span doesn’t expire. YaY!! Hope this helps

Contact The Sugar Chic I know they do AMAZING cookie favors. They can do ribbons to match the charity of your choice. Maybe they can do the Red Cross. HTH!
