Re: donations as favors
ok so this is what i think about this....
i really like the idea but ive neever actually seen it done (except on tv lol), but i think that you need to make the point that the favors are a donations at the wedding very clear, cuz otherwise guests will be expecting something and you may get some guests feeling a little like 'wheres my favor?'

Re: donations as favors
i was talking w/ my mom about it, since the FH is letting me decide, and we were thinking about attaching a card to a little something or other lol of candy saying that in lieu of a favor a donation has been made and so on, and have it on the table as the guests sit down.

thats a cute idea, this way guests understand and appreciate your favor/donation and still get a little treat!! that would def work!

Re: donations as favors
we have been thinking of doing the same exact thing...a little thing of candy with a card attached saying instead of favors we have made a donation.
i think its a great idea bc most of the times ppl throw out the favors anyway...i'd rather the money go to a good cause.

Re: donations as favors
FH and I are doing a donation in honor of our late fathers.
We are going to place 2 cards on each table with a photo of them stating something like, 'in lue of a gift and in honor of our late fathers.... blah blah blah'
So that people know from the beginning of the reception in case people leave before desert is served.

Re: donations as favors
I think this is a great idea, especially since you said you would attach a little note to a piece of candy or chocolate. We most likely will be doing the same thing. I think your guests will appreciate that you made a donation to a charity! There are so many pictures on the knot showing examples of what people have done in the past.

Re: donations as favors
I am doing an animal-related donation as well, we're going to have one to St. Jude's and one to an animal charity (to support our fur babies and future babies!) I am a supporter of both the HSUS and ASPCA, I think both are great but you could also look into a donation to a rescue group, they take animals that are going to be put down and take care of them to save them time to find homes... your donation will be saving specific dogs/cats from euthanasia. I don't know, honestly I feel bad that any part of my donation money would go to euthanasia in any way, so I'm going to see about a no-kill shelter or rescue group. (Or toward a specific program through either of those charities that I fully 100% support.) I can recommend lots of rescue groups/shelters if you are interested! (I've seen some cute donation cards/ribbons that others used at weddings for Little Shelter on L.I.)

Re: donations as favors
YES!!! I'm doing ASPCA for my wedding. I have a number of people in my family that take in abused animals as well as some who are vegan. They would love it. I also did donations for Christmas presents this year. My aunts, uncles, and cousins loved it, and it was so much easier.

Re: donations as favors
my friend did it at her wedding & what they did was make up a card which was in front of every place setting that said, in lieu of a favor a donation will be made to ___ charity.
