Re: Donations in leau of favors....

I would definitely do a scroll. One of my friends put a framed message near the guest book, but no one saw it and some people were wondering where the favors were. The scrolls are simple and elegant. Go for it!

Re: Donations in leau of favors....

I bought a pkg. of parchment paper from Michael's (about $8) and made 2 scrolls per page. We put a red rose (clip art, color printer) at the top with the following text (centered):

Donations have been made

In Your Honor

To

The American Heart Association

and

The American Diabetes Association

In loving memory of our fathers

Eugene E. XXX

and

Sheldon R. XXX

Thank you for sharing in our special day
Katherine & Steven
October 7, 2001

(the 'Thank You' was in a smaller text and we didn't skip lines)

After we cut the paper in half (we made 2 scrolls per page) we rolled them and tied them w/ burgundy organza ribbon (1/8' wide). Then we used lighters & burned the edges to give it the aged look. We just attached them all to our organza bags filled w/ Lindt truffles. Voila!

Over 10 months later, guests still say what a lovely idea it was....

Good luck!

Re: Donations in leau of favors....

We are donating to the American Cancer Society, in lieu of favors. We are making scrolls out of the paper they are supplying us with (our choice of wording, our choice of paper). We'll tie the scroll with ribbon and attach a few Jordan almonds in tulle to it.

Re: Donations in leau of favors....

We are also giving a donation. We are going to place an 8x10 frame on each table basically saying the same thing as Kathi's scrolls. Then a guest from the table can take home the frame just like the centerpiece.
