Donations Instead of Favors-- How much to give?

Hey girls,

I am still not sure what we are doing for favors at the wedding- donation v. traditional favors. But I told my mom that I would prefer a donation to the animal shelter that we got our beloved dog from (RIP Toby) in place of the shower favor.

She was asking me how much she should be donating-- and i really have no idea. I guess it is a personal decision but just wanted to get an idea--

Have any of you girls done donations for shower favors? How much were the donations for if you dont mind my asking? If you did it for the wedding but not shower-- that woudl help too.

I feel that's a personal decision. You can donate what you feel comfortable because at the end of the day its a nice gesture that should come from the heart.

Or you can estimate what you would have spent on favors and donate that.

i agree. try to calculate how much you would be spending on favors and take it from there.

I think this is a very personal decision, but maybe $5pp? I think that sounds like a good ballpark figure. Then again it depends on the size of your wedding!

I would donate whatever your favor budget was. I am doing a donation to Little Shelter, even though we did not get our cat from a shelter, he was a rescue cat and I wanted to donate in his memory to help other kittens at a no kill shelter. So for me, I'm having a very hard time wrestling with my guilt over what to donate, because I feel I should donate more than my budget because it's such a personal attachment to the cause, and yet I really cannot afford to do so. So long story short...donate what you feel is right, but also what you are comfortable with spending.

I love that idea for your shower I did it for my wedding in memory of our dads. We donated $6 pp and split it in half to two museums. I have heard of anything from $2-$6 pp to a flat donation. It's totally up to you!!

Its completely up to you and FH. We are donating to the Hospice Care Network (AMAZING PEOPLE) in memory of my Mom. They will make up nice scrolls for us if we donate a minimum of $3. a person. So check out with your favorite charity. It seems to popular now and they might have something for you.
