Last night was our last night of Pre-cana... well, we still have a mass on Saturday but the weekly sessions are over. Will the fighting stop now?! FH and I have been arguing almost on a daily basis since this started... it could be unrelated I suppose. Anyone else go through this?
Also I just wanted to tell those of you that haven't done Pre-Cana yet that (despite the arguments) I think it's very helpful.... In fact, I think all engaged couples should go through this because it forces you to think of many issues that you've probably never discussed with your FH. It wasn't very religious at all, it was more like pre-marriage counseling.
I know every church does it differently but the way ours did it was that 2 or 3 couples meet once per week with a married couple and discuss issues that will come up in the marriage. It was very interesting and FH and I both felt we got something from it...
Now I am scared. FI isnt good with religous stuff being at the root of our arguements but I think it will be a good thing for us in the long run.

Don't be scared!! It really was not very religious at all. They brought up things like how you will deal with your in-laws, money issues, communication, trust, gender roles, and how your upbringing affects your morals & values... etc I think it's a very healthy thing...

I think that Pre-Cana sounds very interesting. We are doing an interfaith one this weekend and I am looking forward to it. Do you think that it strengthened your relationship at all? Were you arguing over things that were said in Pre-Cana?

I definitely think it strengthened our relationship. Even more so, it made us look at marriage in a different way... I feel it makes us take it even MORE seriously (if that's possible)...
We weren't arguing about things said in pre-cana per se... more like it brought underlying issues to the surface that we weren't discussing/addressing and should have been. Good luck this weekend... I hope you guys get as much out of it as we did!!

I just made an appt. with my priest to meet with me and FH in July. I am sooo nervous. I am also afraid of what may come up and all of the fighting! I know it will be good, but hope not to embarass ourselves in front of the family priest.
