Donnie Darko

Who else has seen this movie? I want to see if there are any crazy folks out there who liked this movie as much as I did (even if I STILL cannot figure what the heck it was about , honestly!)

I had seen it a couple times before and never knew anyone else who saw it .. its one of those movies you HAVE to talk to people about , ya know?

I finally rented it so that DH could watch it the 1st time .. he loved it and now its all we can talk about (sad, but true!)

I loved it too, but I didn't necessarily understand what was going on! Any insights you have would be welcomed! I was really interested in the relationships between the different family members and the weird sense of dread the filmmaker gives to the suburban setting. And I LOVED the music (especially the dance scene with 'Notorious' in it!)

OH my Gawd .. Shana, I don't even know how to describe this movie. Its definitely an acquired taste ... The first time I saw it I was freaked out and wasn't sure WHAT to think! It took seeing it again to really appreciate it (though I dare say I still have no idea what it really means)

It bombed in the theaters and became a cult favorite on video/DVD .. There are websites devoted to it with people who come up with all sorts of theories as to what REALLY happened

If you like movies that leave it up to YOU to figure out exactly what happened .. then give it a try. Its bizarre!

Its stars Jake Gyllenhall and his sister Maggie Gyllenhall .. also Drew Barrymore and Noah Wylie are in it ...

Heather - I'm not sure if that is a compliment or not!!! Donnie is a seriously confused dude .. .. but he's also brilliant and funny (so I'd say that's why your friend says it reminds her of you! )

Definitely SEE the movie ... I think you'd like it ..

Funny you say that -- I LOVED the music in the film also .. esp the song played at the end of the film ..it was perfect

You mean that 'Notorious' dance by the Sparkle Girl Dancers (or whatever they were called )

I honestly cannot give you any insights.. I've seen in multiple times and still come away with different feelings on it .. I'll have my DH come on and give you his thoughts (he's only seen it once and he 'gets' it better than I do! )

Best movie I've seen this year.

Perfect blend of dark humor, thought-provoking plotlines and character development. Everyone will have a different reaction to the ending, but most will be left scratching their heads wondering what happened. (Then the debates start!)

Frank is my new hero. I plan on going as him for Halloween this year to the office.
