Re: Don't know timing for booking
We're not getting married till 11/05 and already have our florist and are in the process of looking for a photographer... We are moving slowly but we also have a lot of time to go... The photography is taking a while because its a hard decision... You might want to start looking around now to find what you like! Good luck :)

I would do it asap. It can't hurt having things taken care of ahead of time and it will prevent you from having the vendors you like booking up on your date.

Re: Don't know timing for booking
Congratulations to the both of you. I'd book Photo and Video or Florist first. Definitely before music. If you can pick an officiant next it would probably be a good idea. If you need any recommedations just ask anyone on here. It all comes down to how comfortable you both feel about the people involved and the results you think you want. I don't know the both of you but if you feel strongly about something , even the little things you should definitely stick to your guns. There were a few vendors I didn't feel comfortable working with but we talked about it and simply went with someone we both felt comfortable with. If you can see actual work done by them and get referrences with varying timelines so you can see the progression of their work.
Best Wishes,
Thomas

I'm just starting the booking myself, and have learned the earlier the better. You dont want to fall in love with a particular vendor only to find they are booked for your date. Plus, ypu dont want to be scheduled for a zillion other vendor appts as your day approaches, and you are inundated with social obligations and dress fittings, etc that couldnt be done earlier.

I really wouldn't try to visit more than 3 or 4 vendors a day. With the driving and bombardment of selling points, options, and differences in vendors it can be taxing after a long week at work. We could only go on sundays because I work on Sat.
If anyone has questions on why I did or didn't like a particular vendor or reception hall contact me
Best Wishes,
Thomas

Three or Four? Wow, we only manage one or two- over the weekend. Most of the vendors we like are out on Long Island, and we are in Brooklyn, so travel time is a pain the the butt.

She would go with my sis who is getting married on Aug 29 2004. See if you can go with someone who is getting married. If you both book you can see what they can do for you. Discount, added extras, etc. Most give a percentage off. One florist said they could take 300 off each wedding.
