My wedding is in August 2004 and I have yet to meet with any florist. My biggest problem is that I have no clue as to what I want. I don't know what kind of flowers or centerpieces or even colors. I know I need to get on the ball with this but I guess I'm just scared because I really don't know what I want. Do I really need to know what I want before meeting with them? or can they help me?
I was planning on meeting with: Fleurs de Florissima Flowers by Brian Pedestals Scaresella's Spitz & Peck
I know I want something affordale, I would like to spend no more than $2000. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

You don't necessarily need to know what you want. Going in with a budget and the color of your BM dresses, is more than fine. Florists will be able to provide suggestions for you within your budget.

no you don't need to know the type of flowers. You should have an idea of how many personal, ceremony, and number & type (high or low) centerpieces you will need.
$2000----how many people do you need flowers for, do you need ceremony flowers, and how many c-pieces (high or low)???

I'm having my ceremony outdoors (weather permitting). About 10-12 centerpieces (100-120 guest) and 4 BM including MOH. and 4 GM including BM. 1 FG and 1 RB.
Is $2000 too much?

$2000 is about average. Spitz & Peck i thought were a bit expensive, they do gorgeous work however. They are recommended by my hall.

I think the florist usually has pictures you can look at. Also, look here to get some ideas, but you don't have to know for sure before you meet them.

You could always use summer flowers- seasonal flowers are always more reasonably priced than flowers that are harder to get. Maybe sunflowers or something like that? If you figure out a color scheme that you want you could approach the florists and ask them what you could get for $2000 and that you want ________ color scheme and what can they do? What do they suggest? They might have some great ideas! Good luck!

That was me too. But once you start meeting and talking to florists, you'll start getting a handle on what you like and don't like...You'll be better able to express yourself too. You'll be fine!

You should also try Burtons and Jack and Rose. They do great work and they are very reasonable with prices.

my BM's are wearing deep red dresses, haven't picked them out yet, but I know the color. My dress is ivory with a very light pink triming.
