My best friend at work husband left her on Monday night. they have only been married since September . She came in to work today and i don't know what to do for her. she can barely function she is like a zombie. She also hasn't eaten since Friday. I am so afraid that she is going to pass out. Please send prayers and any advice i can give her.

Re: Dont know what to do
oh no, i'm so sorry ... that's pretty terrible.
unfortunately, i don't think you can't really do anything for her except for just being there and listening to her (sounds like you're already doing this).

I think the best thing and only thing you can do is let her know you are truly there for support anytime she needs to cry, vent, talk etc. People deal with trauma differently and she may not be ready to talk. Be understanding. If she's the type that needs company, maybe go over with dinner so the house won't be so lonely. Try to go out for fresh air with her during the day for a coffee or lunch.
That is a really unfortunate situation. I'm sorry anyone has to go through that.

oh that's terrible.
I went through that a million years ago. It's horrible.
All you can do is be there for her. try to get her to keep busy. It helps keep your mind off everything else.

I totally agree - this just happened so she needs some time to be a mess ya know?? everyone deals w/ trauma differently so as long as she knows you are there for her no matter what, that's all you can do.... sending prayers her way though

I'm so sorry! My mom went through that. She actually lost about 40 lbs after my dad left. I think if you can just say kind words to her and be thoughtful to her it will help a lot. I'm sure her husband leaving her has her feeling a million emotions, probably low self-esteem emong them, so anything you can do to help her feel good about herself or make time for herself is good. Maybe in a few weeks, take her out on a spa day, or start a weekly mani/pedi routine at lunch?

Re: Dont know what to do
keep an eye on her, (don't be afraid to get help if you think she may do something to hurt herself.) A listening ear and a shoulder to cry on, that's about all you can do. ... poor thing .... I had a co-worker go through a similar thing (but closer to her 1st yr anniversary)

ITA with all of the other posts. The best thing you can do for her right now is to just be there for her.

I'm sorry to hear that. Just be there for her. A friend of ours went through a similar situation shortly after they got married. Its so sad. Maybe even try taking her out to dinner and see if she'll eat and allow her to vent. maybe that will work? I'll pray for her.

Just being supportive is the best thing you can do - let her know that if she needs anything at any time to just let you know. I liked the suggestion of making a favorite treat for her. I'm always a fan of taking the person out or having them come over to cook and play with the pets.

Yeah, I agree. Definitely just do everything you can to be supportive. Maybe carve out some time to spend with her outside of work too (even if you never did that before). She might just need to do something like go out to dinner. But at all costs just avoid talking about wedding plans, unless she brings it up.
