don't mean to be too personal- but i have a question

I just moved to Long Island not long ago. I'm 21 and have only gone to a gyn/ob one time and it was in Brooklyn. Being I am a 'Virgin,' I didn't go to one. Now that I'm getting married in a year, I want to start to build a relationship with one. I also want to go on the pill as the wedding gets closer.

Can anyone recommend someone? I'm petrified beyond belief. It's pretty much my first time. I need to find someone who's really nice and understanding. Can anyone help?

I LOVE LOVE LOVE mine... she is so wonderful and so good at what she does! she helped save my mom's life from breast cancer.

Her name is Dr. Laura Carinci and she's located on Merrick Rd in Bellmore and she is associated with the Southwest Nassau Community hospital.

Also, no matter what you're sexual history is (or even lack of history) please be sure to go to one ASAP. EVERY ONE needs to make sure they are getting annual exams and Pap Smears... too many young women get cervical cancer, ovarian cancer, etc. and it's only detected through a gyno. exam. we all hate going, but it's good to take care of yourself!

GOOD LUCK!

Hmm. I cant recommended one there, however, even tho you are not sexual active that does not mean you shouldnt see a GYN doctor..there are maybe problems that can arise even tho you are not having sex. But dont be scared, I was scared my first time, but its really not that bad. Good luck!

It sounds like this is the one you should try. And I def agree! I work with cancer patients and they keep getting younger and younger. They say baseline mammo at 35....hell no!!! I would start when i'm 30.

Don't be scared or frightened. It may be a little embarrassing for you but not for her. It's the best decision you have made for yourself.

Good Luck!

I LOVE mine...

Personally, I feel more comfortable using a man... and he is great. He's located in Hewlett, and if you feel better using a woman, there are women gynocologists at this place also. I use Dr. Rubin.... the other female gyncologists are Dr. Lantner, Dr. Fils-aime, and Dr, Hilsenrath.

The place is called 'associates in OB-gyn care, P.C.'

Mine is: 1571 Broadway, Hewleet NY ... (516) 295-3008,
but now that I'm looking at their card... they also have a place in brooklyn. 1624 East 14th St. Brooklyn, NY (718) 376-2220

HTH!

I go to Dr. Stern & Dr. Wallace in New Hyde Park on Marcus Avenue- they are both females in case you prefer female doctors (like I do!). Dr. Stern is sooooo sweet! Very motherly, she keeps conversation with you during the exam, so your not even focusing on what's going on. Good luck!

I go to Dr. Gubert at South Shore OB/GYN in East Islip. She is awesome and I highly recommend her.

I go to Dr. Pillitteri in Deer Park. He is a wonderful doctor and I can't say enough nice things about him. I was very nervous at my first visit but me made it a piece of cake. He also saved my sisters baby when she was preggo so I guess that makes me a little biased. His sister also works there if you prefer a woman. good luck on your search.

I like the nurse practitioners at Bethpage OBGYN...but if you want a doctor, not sure how the doctors are. My doc had left for Florida.

My doctor is Dr. Matalon (Medical Arts OB/GYN) in Bay Shore. He is amazing. He never makes you feel stupid, is very thorough and all around remarkable. ALL of my friends go to him. If you are in Western Suffolk, I HIGHLY recommend him. And he is AMAZING as an OB. He delivered both of my sons... and I had really good pregnancies with him. He also delivered my best friends daughters, my nephew and my bosses 3 children. He delivered another friend's 3 daughters and performed her tubal ligation. He was great for one of my friends when she went through ovarian cancer and he was a big help to my sister when she started menopause. He helped another girlfriend through her TTC period and ultimately delivered her son. Everyone I have ever recommended to him thanks me. He is incredible.
