do exactly that and then when people see you put a card into it they will know exactly what it is, plus people will be going up to it looking at all the pictures so they will ask about it...
The nice feature on it is the lock, so its safe and you dont have to worry about people trying to jack your cards....

we used a birdcage as well... the only thing i will warn you about that is that a few of the envelopes fell out as we carried it out of the RH and into the hotel where we stayed that night.... its weird b/c we didnt want to sit there at the end of the reception, unlock the birdcage and scramble to organize all the envelopes. thankfully, all the envelopes were there!!

ETA: the birdcage you have looks like it will secure the envelopes better than mine did!!

If I decide on a birdcage, I could perhaps intertwine some ribbon through the bottom/sides to keep envelopes from slipping through...?

hmm... the bottom shouldnt be an issue - just the sides... if the ribbon is REALLY thick, you should be fine!!

or you could buy one like the poster i quoted above me bought b/c it has mesh on the inside and it looks like it will keep the envelopes in there good!

ours looked like a literal birdcage

FH wants to use a bag with a big gold $ on it.
