Don't you just hate this...

Don't you just hate this...

I hate when you go to a gown shop and they rip the tag out of the dress. I saw this dress I absolutely loved but it was 1250 I was hoping to look around or even order online. So low and behold I was looking in bridal guide the other day. I Found the dress!:
Now all I need to do is check out some other stores that carry this dress.

Bridal Couture in Manhasset does that.... I asked who makes the dress and all she told me was 'an italian designer' I hear that they won't even tell you until you buy it..... i think its awful that they do that... SUCH A TURN OFF!!!....I would never consider a dress until i knew the designer.

I had this problem recently with Adrienne's. Another girl on the board said they're legally obligated to tell you. Just out of curiosity, what store were you in, and what type of dress did it turn out to be?

I've called Adrienne's a few times and was told once that it was Demetrios, and others that is was a private designer. I searched everywhere to find this dress as Demetrios or Maggie Sottero, but neither of their websites had the dress and a few stores I went to that carry these labels didn't have it either. Someone suggested that it might be 2Be - they make replica dresses of popular styles, or maybe it is a private designer that makes replicas of Demetrios dresses?

I see the stores point though - because they spend alot of $$ on the stores, paying employees, etc., and people will go in the store and try on every dress then turn around and buy it online.

im not against buying a dress online, im a big fan of saving $$, but I can see why the stores wouldnt want to let you take pics or tell you who the designer was unless you buy it.

eta: I got my dress from adriennes and it was a:

www.privatelabelbyg.com

I couldnt find the dress anywhere online, but I asked the girl when i ordered it.

I looked online and saw the dress and the store I was in was Paradise in Patchogue. I would try searching online to see if you can find the dress like netbride or gownfind or the manufacture. You need to bargain just like the store bargains when they go to purchase the dress.

The same thing happen to me. But I stayed up til midnight, going online searching for the dress. I finally found it, but seriously if you were to take a poll, I bet you most of the girls will buy from a store, not online. Needless to say I won't be buying from them, just on principal alone. They lost my business, and I might still order my dress from a store.

I was just at Paradise bridal on Sun. and found a dress I loved too but the woman helping me told me the designer was Private label by g. I also found the dress online but it was only $10 cheaper. I think I'm going back next week to order it.

I had the same situation in Carmela's in Huntington....... she brushed me off and said that it was Lea or AXG an Italian designer? I cannot find these deisgners ANYWHERE.... It's so frustrating, I really loved the dress and want to get it, but I definately do not want to go back there and satisfy them buy giving them my dollars..... if I could find it from any other store I would get it.

I fell in love with a dress at Bridal Couture of Manhasset, I knew the designer b/c I asked who made it, and the saleslady that helped me told me...I contacted the designer to ask about the cost of the dress and then went back to BC and the price of the dress was the same as what the designer said it should cost...I bought my dress from them. Mary, the saleslady that helped me was very nice...we'll see what happens once the dress comes in! I'm crossing my fingers...I've read some negative reviews of them...some of which had I read prior to purchasing the dress would have caused me to go elsewhere...

Ive asked them before, at least down here they will tell you! while you have the dress on I would ask.....'wow this dress is gorgeous who makes it?' and see if they slip up!

These stores are so frustrating. Just because they want to screw you doesn't mean they can get away with it. If they weren't over charging you so much then they wouldn't rip the tag out.
