dont you want to meet people on your honeymoon?

Original post by Mich2585

at work today i said ... 'we are going to need to make friends on our honeymoon so we dont get sick of eachother' haha ... everyone freaked out and they were like 'well thats the point of marriage ... to be with eachother!' but seriously when your married you are never with eachother and just eachother 24/7 for 12 days!!! i just meant that after 12 days of hanging out with FH, whom i love love love, i feel like i will want to have contact with some other human besides each other haha ... how do you feel about this?

So so so... i think it's PERFECTLY fine to make some new friends on the HM. The longer the HM is the more OK it is too! If we were doing a 3 day weekend mini HM then I'd be like ehhh prolly not! But we will be gone for like 18 days... and I so wouldn't mind meeting another couple on their HM to hang out with every now and again to maybe drink with or even have dinner with. Of course FH will be there with me.. so it's not like I won't be with him too.
Then when we want to we can go back to our room and be alone or just do things all alone!!

Just be careful who you meet on vacation.. there are a lot of creepy pepole out there who prey on vacationers! I watch a lot of creepy tv and I saw something about these 2 people who would go around looking for a couple to bring back to their room and toy with them - not sexually but accuse them of stealing something to play games - and kill them. Haha..not that that will happen... but I get worried about these things!! So be careful girls!!!

We will chit-chat with others on a daily basis, but I can't say either one of us is looking to hook up with another couple on the HM. I think we are a little more on the quiet side with others - dunno if that's a bad thing, it's just our personalities. So I'd say, to each his/her own. I don't think there is anything wrong with it if that is what you want to do.

ITA...to say I'm the friendliest person would be the comedic statement of the year, and while FH likes to *think* he's friendly...he's an elitist little snobby! So I don't think we're going to be going out of our way to be making friends on our HM, but then again, the places we're going to be going aren't conducive to that either. No all inclusives, no cruises, etc. If we ended up at a Sandals, then maybe it would be a different story for dinner buddies or at the bar or something.

FH and I are on a cruise and we requested to sit at a table with 6 other people instead of just by ourselves. I figured it'd be a good way to interact with other people besides each other Also, there is a nice italian restaurant on the ship that we can/will dine in once or twice just the two of us, so that way we get some romantic time to ourselves as well

I'm excited to get to know other people and I love attention so I'm excited for them to swoon over us since we're going to be newlyweds

I have no interest in meeting anyone on my honeymoon.

I dont mind meeting people, I am social like that. But FH on the other hand is on the shy side so I dunno.

BTW where and when are you going on your HM? We are leaving 7/6 and going to Sandals Antigua

Maybe I'll catch you out in Maui! LOL! FH and I love our time together but we also love to go out with friends, I wouldn't be surprised if we met a couple or two and met for drinks or hung out on a tour or something like that. It's fun meeting different people, and if they're annoying - run the other way (been there, done that!)

Eh ... FH and I are anti-social and don't make friends on trips. Of course, we'll be traveling around Europe so really won't be in one place too long, so I don't think it's an issue for us. But everyone is different and everyone travels differently - so if you guys are into making friends when you're away I don't see what's wrong with it! It's YOUR honeymoon, right???

haaaa us too. we're haters I guess. lol. that's even why we're doing the sweetheart table instead of dais lol

All I have to say is be careful when you make friends when you are away... FH and I went ot the bahamas and we made friends with another couple that was staying at our hotel and they turned out to be so negative and complained about everything and for the rest of our vacation we had to hide from them!!!!

This has happened to us before too

Well we are going on a cruise so we will have to sit with people at the dinner tables, there is no avioding that! But we dont have issues with it either way. I mean we havent been on vacation together alone for like 2 years so honestly, we will probably be with each other but since we are doing excursions and things like that we will probably make freinds from the ship

We met people on our HM....it was more just chit chat at the bar or by the pool. We were busy most days doing our own thing but we now have added them as friends on FB.

FH and I are going to be bouncing around so much, that I doubt we'll be able to make 'friends.' However, when we go to see The Price Is Right in LA and I get on Contestants Row, you better BELIEVE that I'm making friends with Drew Carey.

That is awesome! I always wanted to be on that show! Hope it's fun! Maybe you'll win a new car or living room set, haha.

I think FH and I will be just fine on our own, but if we happen to make friends then great. I think your more likely to at a Sandles type place then at a resort like we are going to.

My parents made lifelong friends (penpals more then friends) on their honeymoon to Mexico.

And on thier 2nd anniversary trip to Switzerland, they met a couple Monica and Jon Marc. They aren't together anymore, but we go visit Jon Marc at his hotel in Verbier (in the Alps) and we have had not only them but their families come visit us here and have visited them there. Monica is coming to visit again in September. So making friends on trips can work out.

DH and I were like 'We are picking intimate seating on our honeymoon.' And we did. We get on the cruise and they brought us to our table for dinner and it was with other people. At first we were kind of like 'Ugh, why?' BUT, we made friends and had the best time ever! I talk to this couple that we sat with during dinner daily through FB and it's great. They are from Toronto and we will be visiting them and they will be visiting us here in NY. So, I am glad the cruise screwed up our seating arrangements.

This is why i am 'allowing' FH to go golfing while we're away. I'll be at the spa.

I wouldn't listen to the opinions of people you work with. Do WHATEVER you want to do on YOUR honeymoon. Hey-you spent how many months and how many $$$$ to plan your wedding, the honeymoon is your reward and you should be able to spend it how ever you want!!!!!

I think it would be fun! In fact, there are two other LIW girls going to be at EPM overlapping a few days when we are there as well- I think it would be fun to have a drink or two with fellow Long Islanders!
