that some times people could just say oh that a nice or have fun- instead of says why do you need that? or something else negative about your wedding!

I also hate that when I mention something people are like oh but your wedding is so far away-is it a rule that I have to wait to the last minute to do anything?

I agree - a few weeks ago - I was at my grandmother's house and my uncle was there and I was talking about the wedding to my and aunt - and suddenly I heard himwhisper to himself 'I don't understand why people spend so much money on their wedding - what a waste of money' - i turned to him and said 'Excuse me sir aren't you the one that renewed your vows with your wife in a huge expensive wedding a few years back?'!!!
Which is true he had two weddings both were ridiculously expensive and he had the nerve to talk about me? When I am the first daughter and grandaughter to be married????
my wedding isn't even that expensive -
my point is - sometimes people - and let me tell you it always seems like it is the people you love most - make the most ridiculous statements and hurt you for no reason and a lot of the time it is really just a tinge of jealousy - do it your way this is your big day

It is so frustrating....
I'd love a 'That sounds wonderful' once in a while!
My mother always makes comments like that also...but when she hears eveyone else talking about how nice it was to get a little bag of goodies at the hotel...she agrees with the person....but she gives me a hard time prior.

LOL i agree. some people dont appreciate the value in some ideas or plans for the wedding or even my life!
like: 'Why do you spend money on purses?' 'do you really need to go on that vacation?' 'why arent you saving that money?'
i could go on.....
hey, do what you want! who cares what they think! as long as you and fh like it - do it! remember- many people are jealous....

UGH - I find myself not telling people ideas (that I am DYING to share) cause I am afraid they will act negatively. Especially those little adder type things:
chocolate fountain extra 1/2 hr to CH slipper basket OOT bags
Obviously if my ideas stink, I want to know. But some positivity would be nice!

me too- like my custom cake topper that looks like us- I think it will be a nice keep sake-
when people make a comment to me about how much money I must be spending- I feel like saying the only person who has that right is my Dad- and if he doesn't care you shouldn't care either! but I just say 'it's fine'

well lets see....my mom has been trying to be so good about trying new ideas and I give her SO much credit for that BUT it seems that FMIL has a problem with EVERYTHING so far!! From the CP's, to the invites, to the guest list, to the place we want to take our honeymoon!!! So FH and I decided that we are not going to talk to her about it anymore since she has nothing nice to say. FH's moto is 'You dont pay, you have no say'....I think I'll stick to that for a while

I wish my family from Out of state would understand NY weddings. They all are like oh why is it so much money. Do they even know on a scale ours is not a 'big NY wedding' I wish they would shush about MY wedding

AMEN! I am so sick of 'why' and having to hear everyone's opinion on everything! Sounds mean, I know, but it's too much. The first thing people say when you get engaged is do what makes you and FH happy - don't listen to everyone.....what they mean is don't listen to everyone else, just me. LOL

Ugh I get that all the time. I merely suggested wax seals on my invitations and my mother says 'Oh now I think you are over the top.' since when do wax seals deem a person insane?
