I had about 12 last minute cancellations for my wedding. Each person gave me the same line 'I will send you something in the mail' ... I would so much rather hear 'I'm sorry, we couldn't afford a gift', and I would say to just come party with us so we don't waste the plates. Now, here we are, almost a month after the wedding, and there's nothing in my mailbox from these people - why bother lying to us like that?

oh I hear ya! I only had a couple of cancellations/no shows, and these people have never contacted us since. We basically have cut them out of our lives. So frustrating

that sucks. Most people who didnt show I kind of expected. My mother still to this day keeps promising me a gift and its 2 1/2 months later

I hate that! But it's not even the gift that I wanted ... I wanted these people to celebrate and party with us - and me NOT spend money on empty seats!
