I haven't been there yet. I live in Brooklyn and would love to go to the trunk show. When is it?

Thanks,
Christine

Re: Doris Fashions...anyone ever go there?

My family has had nothing but good experiences with Doris Fashions...my sister got her prom dress from there 10 years ago and now she's getting her bridesmaid dress from there for my wedding. My Mother also bought her gown there. At first my Mom didn't find anything there off the rack she liked, so the saleswoman, Lana (who is great btw) told us to look around and if we find something we like, take down the manufacturer name and style number and she'll beat the price. That's exactly what we did-my Mom went to Macys and picked out a Jade by Jasmine dress and Doris Fashions gave us a better price and their alterations cost a third of Macys pricing.

This is the type of store you need to do your homework prior to going there...meaning know exactly what you're looking, bring pictures of the gowns and call ahead to see if they have the sample there for you to try on...they carry almost every popular brand and style. The store itself is not much to look at on the outside and inside and their racks are overcrowded with gowns. That's why it's best to have an idea of what you're looking for prior to going there rather than getting discouraged by trying to peruse the racks. The saleswoman there are all professionals in this industry so they will be honest with you in terms of what will not look right on your body type. Both my Mom and sister are full-figured woman so the saleswoman was very frank about what wouldn't flatter her body and gave us suggestions for gowns.

If you're shopping for anyone who is full figured, please be advised that most places can order a dress in their size but the sample is always very small-a size 14 or 18. The person trying the gown on has to get the smaller fitting sample on as best as they can and leave the rest up to the imagination which was very hard for my mom & sister.

Hope this was helpful.
