I saw the book of cake options offered by my RH (they use Dortoni Bakery) and wasn't really thrilled by any of them ... i'm hoping that the cakes are prettier in real life ...
can anyone post pictures of the cakes?
ps: I LOVE dortoni's so i know it'll taste good ... but i want to see how it looks

Apparently, you can go and meet with Dortoni's directly instead of picking an option for your RH. I've seen people do a lot of custom cake design. I'm not too thrilled with JT's cake choices either so I've been TRYING to go to Dortoni's, but I think they had no power yesterday! No one answered and I called about a bazillion times. *hopefully* I'll be going there tomorrow though, so I'll let you know how it goes!

i went to Dortoni's a few weeks ago to ask them about a custom cake but they said i'd need to add a min of about $500 which i refuse to do

Really? Were you considering a very intriciate design?
From what I've heard, JT gives you a budget up to a certain dollar amount including a certain amount of fondant to use. Anything over that amount, and you're paying extra, but just to have a different design doesn't cost any extra. It might be different at your RH though. I'll ask tomorrow.

we didn't even talk about a design ... she just said that anything custom made costs an average $500 more and we immediately went back to the book lol

WHOA! Can't imagine why that would be! Most of the designs I want are MUCH simpler than what JT provides.
