Doubting your style - need a necklace!

Doubting your style - need a necklace!

I've been reading for a while but have never posted till now...

I am trying to figure out what sort of necklace to wear with my dress and I find myself doubting my natural instinct/style.

I was looking for a big chunky art-deco-ish type necklace yet am receiving a lot of dissent.

So my question:
1. Any suggestions of where to find such a piece?
2. Do any of you find yourself doubting your natural likes and dislikes because its not 'traditional' or not 'appropriate' for a wedding?
3. Any other suggestions of what to wear?

Thanks a million in advanced.

You could try the clay pot in Park Slope for some really beautiful, well made jewelry. They also have a website that you can order from...just do a google...

As for your second question--YES! YES! YES!!

So many people make me feel like a freak because of some of the non-traditional stuff that I like...

Good luck with your necklace...

hard to suggest anything without seeing the dress...Some dresses actually shouldn't be worn with a necklace, so i have no clue to suggest. Do you have a pic of your dress?

I think I've been in there before and drooled over their stuff for non-wedding purposes. Unfortunately it might be a bit out of price range but it's absolutely beautiful.

I'm also glad to know I'm not the only one who is constantly trying to rationalize my choices... aye!!!

not sure if i am posting the image correctly but here is the ghetto-shot of the dress.

I have shorter hair that is just going to be pinned up and had no intention of wearing a bracelet or anything.

you need to resize the picture

go to paint, go to image, then click on stretch and skew and just make the horizontal and vertical smaller than the 100% already there, make it 30 or 50% then just click on save as

ok i see the details better now, a crystal type necklace can work too bc of the beading.

i can definitely see what you are saying about pearls but not so sure that they are my style. I'm not the tiniest girl so I usually can get away with going with a bolder piece of jewerly.... and me and dainty do not make a good match!

any pictures of what you would suggest?

The second and third ones are beautiful!! I'd love a combo of one and two to some extent. I wasnt thinking anything larger than the first picture you posted.... could be some strands of beads with a large accent just as long as its not some tiny delicate thing (which can be gorgeous, just not on me)

Just trying to get some ideas and see what others would suggest for the style

hey! i'm a major vintage chunk-a-holic fan! I love the bold pieces and I got myself a beautiful piece by Nadri. They have beautiful vinage, costume, chunky styles! Go with it...it's your day! I know I am!

I've included some examples!

Oh man! I am SOOOO with you on that one.

Honestly, given the design on your dress, I'd go for a huge, funky bracelet and a matching set of earrings. Your dress is so classic/elegant that I think a chunky necklace would detract from your dress!!

But i do have to say that I hear ya on your second question.

My mother tells me DAILY that she wishes my dress had more 'sparkle' to it. Do what makes you happy!

ahh people just get excited but you also want to look like yourself and represent who you are...if you are not into sparkle then definitely do not do that.
