Douglaston Manor - GM?

I went to see the Douglaston Manor today as a possible RH. Let's just say, it doesn't have the outdoor garden me and my FH once hoped for, but the old-time feel of the building is perfect.
The one thing that was disconcerting about our visit was the GM. He was more than willing to answer questions, but his smile was huge - he came off as slightly fake or ingenius and was the first GM who didn't ask us a single question about us as a couple.
His.... almost 'shark' like smile, seeming disinterested in us - Has anyone else experienced this?
I'm curious, what experience do others have with DM's GM?
We love the venue, but first impression of the BM has us second guessing ourselves.
