Douglaston Manor thoughts??

So.. i just came from there and the place was good and the price was awesome.

Has anyone been to a wedding there or having one there?

My one concern is the layout of the main room.

Thoughts??

I am dm bride i have never been to a wedding there but heard amazing things from all the people i talk to... i wanted something different, close to home with the right price and DM filled all those requirements to the tee. I was also concerned about the T room shape but I plan on using it to my advantage and putting the younger people in the room with the dj and dancing and the older people in the other section of the room so they can talk without screaming at eachother

That concerned me to. I didn't like that some guests would really be away and out of the action.. I wanted all the table to surround the dance floor as they do in most RH's.
BTW...did they finish installing the elevator from the main floor to the floor where the ceremony room is? When I went to check it out they said they were going to install one - we really needed it because we will have 2 wheelchairs at the wedding... i was a little skeptical it would be ready which is another reason we didn't book with them.

yeah.. thats what my concern is also for that room. And i can't really picture where the DJ would be set up too.

He didn't mention anything about a elevator, but we didn't ask. I have 1 family member in a wheel chair but everything i need would be on the same level.

Thanks

How funny, I remember you mentioned Venetian Yacht club was another of your top choice.

Our top 3 were DM, VYC and the hall we booked. I liked Douglaston Manor alot, I've been to a wedding there and it was wonderful. Food was really good. It doesnt' feel like a catering hall at all- a good thing to me. I would agree with the recommendations to put the younger people near the speakers...they wont be in them much- they'll probably be at the bar or dancing!

I would say the grounds are nicer than VYC, it's just a totally different look.

I'm getting married there! I love it b/c its so different too. I saw a million RH and loved that DM had a different set up.

I've tried the food 4 or 5 times already at their showcases (there is one next wednesday too), and I loved it.
