Re: Doves- Pro's or Con's
I was also thinking about doing that b/c my church is VERY strict they do not allow bubbles, rice rose petals nothing But when I was talking about getting the doves a a friend of mine who had doves at her wedding said they came around and did droppings on a few of her guest so I dont really want to take the chance

I am not sure if this is true, but my father said that they die after they are released because they are not equipped to deal with surviving in the wild.

I was told that they are trained to come back to the owners? I am getting having my ceremony at the hall outside in the gardens. I originally wanted butterflies, but heard some sad things about them dying in the boxes??

The doves aren't real doves they are actually pigeons. Not sure the exact terminology for them. They are trained to go back home. They are given limited food supply the day before as to limit the amount of droppings they let out. We plan on doing this but not sure who I am booking with yet. They will not release the birds if weather doesn't permit.

We are planning to have a dove release too. I was told they are trained and will fly back home.

I heard they are trained to fly back to the trainers....but giving them limited food the day before? Hearing that bothers me.....plus I'd feel bad for them to be cooped up in cages and all that morning. I'd feel too guilty to use them, but that's just MO

2UNTAMED- the butterflies are shipped alive and many times they are 'dead or shocked' when the box is opened... you can search on here to find out about them...

i can tell you from personal experience - my GF did the butterflies last year and at leat 50% were dead when the box was opened. not a pretty sight - and very, very hard to explain to the little children who were standing around all excited.
JMO - but i would think twice before you use live animals
