So I had a Bridemaid who I expected to be very pregnant by my wedding date (8months). She happily accepted and was moving along with everything as planned. Today she found out she is MUCH farther along than she expected and her due date is now a week before my wedding. So she had to step down. Of course I am fine with that (really), I knew it could happen but she had been taking steps to assure it wouldn't, so I was lulled into a false sense of calm. Question is, what do I do now? Should I fill her space (which would be hard since I have the ones I really wanted) or is it OK to have an uneven number (FH is aginst that). Plus, all my other bridemaids are fighting (still ) and I'm about ready to tell one to go to heck, which would make me down 2. I need advice.

O no that stinks! But its totally ok to have an uneven bridal party. Seriously, I would rather have it uneven, but include ony those people really important to me, than to include other people just to make it even.
o yea...and whoever you would ask to be a BM now would probably feel like you are only asking because your short a BM now.. which might not be the best feeling....know what i mean?

Re: Down a Bridesmaid
Thats how I feel, I don't want someone to feel like filler. FH is pretty against the uneveness though. My mom even suggested I ask my brother to sit out becuase he'd understand. But thats just crazy!

wow thats crazy to suggest asking your bro step out! Why is your FH so against the uneven thing... is it because he'll thinkit will look weird in pictures or something?

We have an uneven bridal party, 6 girls, 5 guys. I think it's totally okay. You could have two of the guys escort one of the girls (we're doing it opposite, 2 girls walking with one guy). We tried to make it even, but we chose people who were really important to us, & we didn't want to include someone we felt didn't belong just to make it even. HTH!

Ours in uneven too...very small aswell.. 1 MOH 1BM and the Bestman... so going down the aisle the girls will just walk by themselves and coming back up I'mm prolly just have the MOH and Bestman go together and the BM follow.

Its okay to have an uneven amount, I have one extra guy, so one lady will walk with a man on each side of her, its that easy...Dont sweat it...... It will be just fine...

I have an uneven bp also. Its not about perfect symmetry, its about having the people you love with you on your wedding day,

Re: Down a Bridesmaid
i think it's totally fine to have an uneven bridal party. I would say add someone only if there is a girl that you had wanted to ask in the first place but didn't. But if it's just to fill the spot I don't think you have to. Even if you are 2 down.
If it's for the first dance, you can either have the dates of those extra guys step in, or skip them all together (which is what we wanted to do but the DJ forgot), and for the aisle, my friend had extra guys and she had one of the bm's walk out with 2 guys. It looked really cute.
HTH!

Re: Down a Bridesmaid
uneven! I don't think it's necessary to have everyone paired up.... It's not like the bridesmaids and groomsmen are couples.....
One groomsman could escort a family member down the isle, could walk alone, or could walk with a flowergirl or ring bearer...
that's what we're doing with our extra bridesmaid!

Thank you! I'm sure when FH reads this he'll be more understanding. This all is exactly how I felt!

Re: Down a Bridesmaid
Ours is totally uneven. It doesnt matter anymore according to bridal magazines. I have 4 girls and FH only has his best man and my brother. We're not making anyone walk with a partner because we're grownups and we werent going to put everyone with their husband/wife in it, or split up couples.
You're fine sweetie. I reccomend looking it up online and showing it to mom and FH. The bridal party is not emant to be 'filler' Its supposed to eb made up of the people you simpyl must have with you on your wedding day vbecause you love them so much.

Re: Down a Bridesmaid
Our bridal party was sooo uneven - 8 guys, 5 girls. It actually worked out nice, though - they walked down- GM-BM-GM GM-BM GM-BM-GM GM-BM then we had the MOH and 2 Best Men So it was even, in a way There are pics in my albums.

Re: Down a Bridesmaid
I have been to a bunch of weddings with uneven bridal parties and had one myself. Personally, I think its silly to ask people to be in your wedding just to have even numbers. Its a big expense to ask of someone and I think its more important to be surrounded by the people you are closest too and care about the most.

Re: Down a Bridesmaid
Its not my first choice-- but mine is uneven also--- I am happily accepting that because I didn't want to invite people that i didn't REALLY want. They will be in your pictures FOREVER

Re: Down a Bridesmaid
I've seen uneven bridal parties and honestly it's not a big deal for that issue. Sorry to hear that she's more far along than she thought.. also sorry to hear that you're having problems w/other BM's

Re: Down a Bridesmaid
Do you have any guy friends who are close to you? One of my best friend is a guy and I asked him to be my bridesman. He proudly say yes and I cant wait for him to walk in the aisle and stand by my (girls) side.
