We orig registered for a down comforter at BBB, the 'Luxury Year Round Warmth Full/Queen White Goose Down Comforter' (it's 600 thread count, 700 fill power, 35 oz of down). However, I'm now worried that's going to be too warm.
In contrast, the 'Luxury Light Warmth White Goose Down Comforter' is 600 thread count, 650 fill power, 27 oz of down.
I've seen websites fluctuate based on what they consider 'year round warmth' and 35 oz seems to be high! Right now we have a down blanket (kind of like a thin quilt) in our duvet. We want something fluffy and a little more substantial, but I don't want to be overheating all the time.
Our current apartment is pretty warm in the winters (we dont need to turn on the heat) but when we move after a year it might be colder and it might be nice to have something warmer?
I don't know what to do!
Anyone have a down comforter? What type? How did you decide?

Re: Down comforter Q
I have a light down comforter currently, but it's for a full size so we registered for a King. It gets warm sometimes, but I'm always cold. It depends. I would go with a light one because you are going to be using other blankets and sheets with it.

im leaning toward the light one now too... i tentatively took the medium one off our registry but with sheets and the duvet cover that should add to it... and we also registered for a 'quilt' (a thin coverlet thing that matches our bedding' which could always make it warmer... and i guess if it was REALLY cold we could layer our down blanket (again like a quilt). it's also $100 cheaper to get the lightweight one
i just want to make sure it's warm enough, and that it's not just a summer blanket

Re: Down comforter Q
honestly, i have no idea about thread count but i can tell you i picked the lightest one possible, they get very heavy. i have one now and when its 60+ degrees out i cant use my comforter. I like being cold at night and having to snuggle.

Hmmm there are 2 i am debating between now... both considered on the light side
BBB:
600 thread count 650 fill power 27 oz of down
Macys:
400 thread count 700 fill power 30 oz of down
same price, although BBB has coupons (and macys has their own sales I guess)

I think that is the right route. That's what we did too. There is always plenty of blankets!

If you are putting it in a duvet i dont think thread count matters. Go with the fill. and 3oz in a queen is probably no difference.
