Dr floor opinion...

OK so we decided to open up the area where the dr is - when you first walk in the house you walk into the LR - on the back wall is a diamond shape whole which is to the DR - We were thinking of opening up the wall and make it a more open room - Here my dilema - the floor is the LR is hardwood flr and in the DR is carper - We cant to take the carpet out and add a floor but I think hardwood is too expensie - What do you think I should do??

Not open the wall or open it and then what floor.

Now keep in mind the DR is also off the kitchen which has a ceramic floor already -

HELP.....

If you want to open up the space then just keep the carpet in the DR. Maybe you can afford a wood floor later on. I don't see how having a carpet in the DR will be a problem, just put a nice transition strip between the two floor changes.
