Dream honeymoon or wait until the first anniversary?

Dream honeymoon or wait until the first anniversary?

I am basically broke. But I could put a honeymoon on a credit card and pay it back. Should I purchase a fantasy honeymoon to Tahiti or stay at a small hotel near the beach in long Island?

umm..I guess it depends on how quickly you can pay back the credit card company. If you can pay it off quickly, go for it! If not, I say wait until you have the money. You don't your 10K honeymoon costing you 20K after you've paid all the intrest.

I would wait. Why don't you look on skyauctions.com? You might be able to find a very affordable getaway to the Caribbean which you could do for now and then do your HM on your 1st anniversary.

I just opened a card with my bank - 0% interest on purchases and balances until December 2008. If you have or can get a card like that, I would definitely go for the dream HM now!

This sounds doable, a card without interest until December. There's only one honeymoon right?

If you know that you can pay it off quickly and will be okay with having some debt for a while then go for it! And I agree with shorty, try to find a 0% card.

I have to say, Tahiti is SO worth it!!!

We did a weekend getaway the weekend of our wedding.

The 6 months later when bills were paid off, etc, we went on our dream HM to the Bahamas to the Sandals resort!

I'm in the same boat as you. I don't know what to do either. We were thinking the FL Keys now and something exotic in a year or two. My fear is what if we have a kid. It could be 18 years before we get that exotic honeymoon and honestly, I'm not that young.

wow thats a hard one- what about registering for a honeymoon at one of the travel agencies- i think liberty travel has it.

i would hate to see you put it on your credit card- because you will end up paying for the vacation like 2 times over.. jmo

Wait. Don't start off your marriage in debt if you don't have to. Finances are the #1 thing couples fight about - give yourself a solid start and then go on your dream 1st anniversary trip!

I would definitely plan something for HM but save up for first anniversary for a bigger trip but do whatever makes YOU happy!!!!

This is very difficult!! I honestly don't know where to go for a price that does not need to be placed on a credit card. I truly do not want to be in debt.

Here is how I would like to spend my honeymoon:
In a room with many amenities and a huge window view of the beach. I could run to the store myself and grab a dozen roses to spread flower pedals all around. Candles too. Length of stay would depend on where we would be.

If it was on a Caribbean Island, then maybe a week or ten days.

If it was close to home, maybe 4 days.

I fear if I do not chose the dream honeymoon now, I would probably never get a second chance to go.

We did the 0% credit card, too. We're paying for our wedding and aren't using credit, but there won't be much $$ left for the HM. Plus, we booked our HM ourselves so we had to pay all up front. FH and I are debt phobic, but we figured that a 0 % card is like having a payment plan.

I would go for it! AMEX has a card that is interest free for a year.

if u can do it now - GO FOR IT!!!! it's ur honeymoon!!!!!!!!!!! definetly check out skyauction.com along with virgin-travel.com u'll probably find some awesome deals. Good Luck!
