Dress $$

Dress $$

I don't know if this is inappropriate to ask, but I am just starting out in my dress shopping and am REALLY floored at the prices. The last time I went dress shopping was with my sister 8 years ago and it cost her like $300 for a very fancy dress. I'm looking at eve of milday's for thousands of dollars. Again, I hope I don't offend anyone but I'm just trying to figure out where I could go that isn't as expensive but same type of gowns. I've seen so many of your gowns and don't want to be ripped off at some high end boutique. Thank you!

when i found my dress, i couldn't believe the price tag, i honestly thought they had forgotten to add a number. There is so much beadwork and embroidery yet the dress is under 1000. You might be surprised.

My maggie sottero is absolutely BEAUTIFUL

The tag price is around 1500 but I got it for 1000 at burtons.

Eve of milady is def an expensive brand.

Re: Dress $$

I went to many dress shops and told them my budget was no more than $1500. I figured if I found a dress that was that high I would order it on-line or at wholesale shop like my friend in MA did. To my surprise the dress I fell in love with was a Maggie Sottero and was $950 at a bridal shop. Thanks to this site I found it at Burton's for $600. And yes, my dress has beads and lace all over it.

If you have a budget tell them not to show you dresses over a certain amount of money. You can find one. I'm VERY picky. I must have tried on over 70 dresses but I did find the one. JIMO you do not need to spend thousands. I am paying for my entire wedding and no way was I spending that much money on a dress I am wearing for one day. Yes, I know some dresses are hand beaded etc. but I know no one is going to be able to tell. I'd rather the money go to my ring which I'll wear every day

Good luck, you'll find the one.

I agree...If you are not into spending a large amount of money on your dress, you really don't have to. There are PLENTY of dresses out there under $1000. That was my upper limit and I LOVE my dress:)

It's not at all that I don't think it's okay to spend more than that. That was just the limit I set for myself. Like a lot of brides, I am on a budget and would like to divert money to other aspects of the wedding.

The price you pay depends on what designers you look at. If you don't feel strongly about needing to wear a famous designer's dress, then check out david's bridal. Or go on theknot.com or weddingchannel.com and do a search -I think they list approxmiate price ranges for the dresses they show.

Hope this helps!

Re: Dress $$

I would suggest getting the name of the designer and trying to find that dress at a discount online. I did that with mine and it came out $900 less (RK bridal matched the price)! RK Bridal has some Eve of Milady dresses; they should be able to order you a style even if they don't carry it in the store.

You never know you may just get lucky!!!!

I have very very expensive taste when I went gown shopping I told them my budget was 3k or less. b/c I just KNEW I wouldnt find a decent dress that I loved for less then $1500. Well I tried on all kinds of $$ dresses from 1500-5000. Guess what?? I wound up falling in love with an Alfred Angelo ( not to sound like a b*tch but a brand I never even thought about looking at) that was less then $800!!!!!
I didnt even LOOK at the designer name or price until after I put it on and knew it was THE ONE!! I was on my way to the counter to pay when I stopped and went WAIT HOW MUCH WAS THAT DRESS?!?!? lol

Re: Dress $$

I ended up looking at all high end places and normally priced places, I found a dress at RK that was stunning and it was only 600 bucks, but, my fault and my fault only, I ended up going to Kleinfelds, Bridal Salon of Manhasset, and Bridal Reflections and found a dress from more than quadruple the price....that I could not take off...but to be honest, if I didn't find this dress,I would have gone with the 600 dollar one that I loved loved loved too..so my point is, go with a price range, don't go into stores that are above and beyond, and there are beautiful dresses in every price range!!!! and you'll be a beautiful bride no matter how much you spend on a dress!!!

Re: Dress $$

If you do not want to spend thousands on a gown, stay away from the 'Designers' And when you go into a salon FIRMLY tell them you WILL NOT spend over XXX - this way they're not going to show you a $20,000 gown that you can't have - you know ?
But don't go to Vera Wang or and then expect to find the same quality or style for $500. It won't happen. And yes, w/ a designer gown you are in PART paying for the name, but you are also paying for the quality of the material and workmanship on the gown.

There are absolutely GORGEOUS gowns to be found ! And if you do have your heart set on something that is out of your price range - Look for trunk shows, or go into the city and directly to the designer to avoid the 'middle man' bridal salon - OR you can find a great seamstress to make a replica .......

But yes, the prices are crazy. - I think Eve of Milady has more reasonably priced gowns. - Keep looking ! you'll find something you LOVE !

Re: Dress $$

my dress came to 650, with my tiara. the place also gave us $50 (basically the tiara free) off though cause my sister bought her dress there a week earlier. either way it was only 650 for the dress that i absolutely love.

you can definitely find an inexpensive dress, you just might have to look a little harder.

Re: Dress $$

I tried on a Marisa dress at RK bridal and it was $1650. I then went to netbride.com and bridesave.com looking for the same dress. Bridesave quoted me $1259 for the same dress. I printed out the quote from Bridesave and am bringin it to RK - who advertises that they'll beat any price by 5%.

I would recommend David's Bridal and RK Bridal. The stores are often crowded and you dont necessarily get fawned over by the attendants, but if that's ok with you, then you'll end up saving some money.

I love my maggie sottero dress and it cost $800. The Swarovski crystal beading on it is gorgeous. No way you have to spend thousands if it's not in your budget

Re: Dress $$

I bought mine at Davids for 850.00, after trying on 35-40 dresses. I Absolutely did not want to go over my 1500.00 budget, and managed not to get tempted by the more expensive gowns.
