dress advice

I need some advice...I dont know what to do about a wedding dress. I am about 4'11 and petite. I am worried I will look silly in a long dress. I have found a bunch of cute shorter dresses but I think they arent dressy enough. Anyone else not getting a long poufy dress. Also, I want your opinions on the dresses ...HELP!!!

we are having a september wedding on a sunday ...I can pick any 6 hour block I want...thinking about 3pm to 9pm...it will be at a vineyard

Re: dress advice

I love #4 but think you should really try them all on, maybe a long one won't be bad? but those are really so cute!

#1 is so cute! I really like the bottom (how the underneath part sticks out)

That halter one is nice- it looks dressy.
the poufier one in the other message too.
I also like the off the shoulder one.

Re: dress advice

I love the 3rd one (esp the belt part) but I like the length of the first one. They are both pretty though.

I like # 1 from your first post. I also like the one with the sweetheart neckline with no staps and Embroidery.

Re: dress advice

I got married in Ocober, on a Sunday with my time span from 4-10 pm. And I am 5' tall and very petite. Of course you can were a long dress!!! After trying on lots of dresses, the best style is an 'A-Line' dress with a chapel train. If your heart is set on a long dress try a few A-Line dresses, you will be surprised how form fitting and appropriate they will look. I also wore a cathedral veil.

Just my opinion, but I would stay away from shorter dresses. You may look a little too promish, or cocktailish.

I agree about sticking with a longer dress. There's no reason why you can't wear a long dress! Just don't get anything too poofy or too heavy. A simple A-line dress is VERY elegant and would look good on you!

The main questionis the number of guests you are having..if its alot...I agree that a shorter dress would probably not be uhh hmm 'appropriate.....but I think they are all beautiful.

I'm 4'11' too, and I was afraid when I tried on dresses that nothing would look right. Believe it or not, I went with a pretty poofy dress with a small train!! Most dresses looked fine, although some were just 'too much'. I like all the dresses you showed, but just letting you know to check out all your options, you might be surprised!!

Re: dress advice

You should absolutely not limit yourself to only these types of gowns. My cousin is also 4'11' and petite and she wore a big ballgown (or perhaps a modified a-line) made of organza. She looked absolutely gorgeous and not silly at all. The trick is to choose a light fabric and a cut that you don't get lost in.

Stay away from too much beading or lace and you'll be fine in a ballgown. I'd focus on modified a-lines also. One other thing... as cute as those gowns look on the models, remember, those models are NOT 4'11'... IMO tea length dresses tend to make people look shorter and stumpier and not everyone has the legs for them.... so please, just keep your options open!! Good luck!

Re: dress advice

I think # 2 is PERFECT if you're looking for a shorter dress. -
But just b/c you are petite does not mean you can't wear a gown if you want to - You would probably look amazing in a fitted aline lace gown or something like that -
You should go and try things on to see what you like
