Okay, so a good friend offered me her dress to wear for my wedding. It is beautiful, but would need to be altered a lot. My question is how much do alterations run? I'm wondering maybe it may be cheaper to get a dress closer to my size and have less alterations? What do you think?

i am getting my dresses from macys bridal and the alterations for the MOH and BM are $50 and the alterations for my dress were a little more.

a friend of my just had her last fitting and her alterations cost her $400!!! The dress was ordered in her size! Another friend got married last June and hers were $350.
I dont know if this helps or not?

Mine were $200 and that was w/out a bustle since I have a detachable train!

I think it depends on style of dress and your body shape....When I was a MOH , the dress was ordered in my size but the 'chest' size...and my waist was 4 sizes different(smaller) so they had to order the dress in the larger size.....
ETA: It cost me $250 for alterations

I made sure there was a cap on alterations for the BM dresses which is 40 dollars and for mine they only charge for the hem which thank goodness I wont need Im so tall.
