I am buying my dress tomorrow!! And I think I will need to decide if I wanna get my dress altered at the store or elsewhere. My mother-in-law says she has someone who is very good, and worked at Kleinfelds for years, and will charge me less than what the store will charge me. What do you gals think??
i would check first because a lot of other salon wont touch your dress if its bought elsewhere
It's not a salon, it's a woman with her own alteration business.
oh so then its up to you, the only thing is that with a salon they have a certain amount of liability but if its a friend or something and it goes wrong theres not much you can do ya know

I may be mistaken, but I don't think you need to know at the time you place your order whether you'll be doing alterations through the store or elsewhere. I would definitely meet with FMIL's friend and see her work/check references before entrusting my dress to her.
When i ordered my dress they didnt ask me about doing alterations there so you should have time to decide. I personally would go with the store. I would be so nervous that someone else would mess up my dress and there is nothing you can do about it. If the store messes up the dress THEY have to fix the situation
I was originally going to have a friend do it but changed my mind and am having it done where I got my dress. I just felt its in safer hands there if god forbid something happened.
