Dress Alterations & Bustling (Pricing Info Help!!)

Hey Ladies,

So I am beginning to think that $10 per point for a bustle is entirely too much... Am I completely off the radar with this?

My dress has a cathedral length train so I know that it will need a lot of points, but good golly... $10 for each?! A friend of mine from the same bridal salon went to get her dress bustled and her train was a semi-cathedral and she had almost 27 points!!!

Either I need a reality check or contact information for an alteration girl haha, either one will help!

TIA!!!

That's just about what every bridal salon told me the points cost. I think some may have even told me $15 per point.

Re: Dress Alterations & Bustling (Pricing Info Help!!) REVISED!

Oh gosh, I guess I need a reality check...

How about this:

How many points could I possibly need for a train that long??

Any ladies out there that had a cathedral length train?? How many points did you need? Thanks again!

I had a cathedral train and my bustle was 20 points! I think they were $10-15 per point depending on ribbon or button.

Its either buttons or ribbons...sometimes salons charge differently for each.

This. Ribbons get tied underneath the dress, and buttons are put on and looped on the dress itself. I had 11 ribbons and 7 buttons and 2 snaps, lol.

My sister in law (who will be bustling me up) said that she 'insists' on ribbons as its easier to do than buttons.... but she also said her buttons either popped off or came undone.. ..

I liked it that ribbons were cheaper!

Oh wow, but at least you know you'll get something really good right? I feel like because my salon does it per point they're going to insist I need more than is necessary to make a buck

i would check with some of the tailors around. I dont know what it broke down to, but I had all my alterations, including Bustle (but it was a 3 point bustle) for 235 or so with Tanya's Fine European Tailoring

Ok someone correct me if I'm wrong... but I was told if you have a choice go with ribbons rather than buttons, because of you get caught on something or if someone steps on you the ribbons will let go and can be undone but the buttons may break.

Obvi I can't speak from experience, but can someone chime in?
