Dress, Buyers Remorse?

Dress, Buyers Remorse?

So, I went to buy the dress that I was dead set on and ended up walking out buying a completely different dress. The night of (Saturday) I could barely sleep and just kept thinking 'did I do the right thing'? It's Wednesday and I feel relieved with my decision although I can't help but think... is there something else out there? Did I do the right thing ordering the color, etc.

Help! Is this normal????????

Re: Dress, Buyers Remorse?

i haven't officially ordered my dress yet...just put deposit down...and I feel this way every dayyyyy

I loooooooooooove my dress...but Im so scared to go take my mom and order it bc then ill be locked in and Im like What if, what if, what if?

I think it's normal...its a HUGE decision, you only get ONE dress!

my aunt gave me great advice, she was like 'you have to just stop thinking what if, put your foot down, commit to your dress, embrace it and be confident in your decision...don't cheat on her!'

everytime i sway a little, I think about what she said!

What got me to actually buy it was I saw myself walking about 6 feet to the mirror with the veil on and the fake flower bouquet and started crying!!!!! I thought to myself (I was pretty much alone as I walked) 'this is how I always pictured myself walking down the aisle.' I couldn't help it, I was overcome with tears meanwhile I still couldn't be at peace with my decision!

We ended up taking pictures of me in the dress and of course (the manager told me: 'people go home and stare at the pictures and start picking on everything, DON'T DO IT' - and literally that's what I did that night). I keep reminding myself: the dress wasn't your size; you did the right thing!! It's tough... you're right - You only have ONE dress!

this is my opinion.

There will always be something else out there. New styles come out every season. That doesn't mean that the dress you bought isn't perfect!

Your reaction to it says it all. Don't regret it.

I think you shouldnt have any regrets...go with your initial reaction of that is what you pictured looking like walking down the aisle.
LoveyDovey...i love your aunt's advice!!!
I am in the midst of trying to find a dress but since I have more then a year i cant decide if I actually want to get one now or wait to see if i like something more in a few months

Re: Dress, Buyers Remorse?

This exact same thing happened to me. I put a down payment on a dress and i went home and just started having these gut wrenching feelings that i picked too soon (it was only the second store we ever went to). I really liked the dress at the time but there are sooo many out there and i kept thinking What If?

i went through all the pics of me in the dress and wasnt so sure i liked how it looked in the pics.

Thank goodness my mom told me that you have three business days to get out of a contract and so i called the store and canceled the order until further notice....which never came since i found a different dress that i absolutely love.

Technically today is your third business day. Call and ask them if they can stop the order and not put it through yet until you come in one more time and try it on. Then go from there!

ITA. i think the key to dress shopping is to stick with your gut and pick the dress that you feel the most comfortable in and the most beautiful in. there's always going to be something else out there that is newer, etc... but that shouldn't matter. don't doubt your choice, it'll only drive you nuts~

Also forgot to mention, my mom and i had cried when i was in the dress so i thought THIS MEANS IT HAS TO BE THE DRESS BECAUSE WE CRIED! lol

But it wasnt. The experience is emotional...thats why we cried.

When i finally found THE dress, me and my mom just nodded and knew.

You should put a hold on the order maybe to give yourself time to breathe and make sure you are 100%.

Re: Dress, Buyers Remorse?

COMPLETELY normal! I went into dress shopping with an idea in my head of what I wanted and saying over and over 'I don't want to look like a princess, I don't want poof, I don't want lace, etc'. But I ended up with the most amazing dress that I tried on, I knew instantly that it was 'the one' and what is it?? Princessy, poofy, etc.. and I still ask myself if I made the right decision then become reassured remembering how I felt when I first tried it on. So my advice to you, keep playing that moment in your head over and over.

Re: Dress, Buyers Remorse?

Funny thing is, my MOH took pics of me in the dress (head cut off) and I absolutely loved how it looked! With my head on the pics and the pics that I could ZOOM, I'm not so happy. lol

Everyone in the store went crazy including other brides and their entourages. It's definitely everything I was looking for but I feel like since I have so much time, maybe I should keep looking but honestly the more I looked, the more I got confused!!!

I've tried over 30 dresses at 5 different places. The dress I chose is similar to one that I was loving at my first try on.

Weddings are so much pressure, I just want to make sure at least that my dress is PERFECT!!!!

I'm kinda feeling that right now. I love the dress that I have, and I feel great in it, but I always wonder is there is something else out there... I guess I just need to remind myself why I bought it and the feeling I got when I did.

Re: Dress, Buyers Remorse?

That happened to me too. When I found my dress I wasn't even dress shopping for me I was looking for bm dresses. I thought I found the one and the next day I went back to buy it and ended up buying a different one. When I put it on I said this is it but for days after I was like OMG I don't think I really like it. I went back and looked at pictures and then I realized I was just driving myself crazy and I really do love it.

I think its defintely normal to freak a little bit, it's definitely something a lot of people over think because it's like 'the dress'

Re: Dress, Buyers Remorse?

I just went through the same thing. I put a deposit down on my dress about two months ago and over the last two months i've seen pictures of so many beautiful dresses and i've had this nagging feeling that I was too hasty.

I actually went in to try on my dress again yesterday just to be sure and I was reminded why I picked the dress in the first place!! This is totally normal--there are so many gorgeous dresses out there but ultimately we only get to wear one : )
