when you ladies decided on a dress, did you call around and just ask for the price of it at different stores? i feel kinda funny doing that, but if it's standard practice maybe i won't feel as funny lolol
i haven't made any decisions yet, but i want a game plan in place

Yes! I did!!! When you get a good price you can call the store that you want to order it from and ask them to match it!

Re: dress buying q
I should have, but I got so caught up in the moment that I said yes right then and there. Mom and I didn't mind that much because the dress was affordable and there was a discount on top of it because it was a trunk show.
If you're not like me definitely call around for prices, especially at places where you felt really good with the staff.

I called three stores and it was the same price at each. Enzoani is notorious for not allowing price variation on their dresses though.

Re: dress buying q
I didn't. I loved the place I bought it and there was only two other places that sold my designer in 30 miles from my house. One I had a bad experience at so I didn't have too much of a choice!

I definitely intend to. Make sure you get the right color too.
Check Netbride.com and bridesmaids.com they carry certain lines.
Call up RK Bridal as well, they have a price match policy of 5%.
Good Luck!

I didn't, I was getting my dress at a discount already and then they took another discount off of that, so I knew I wouldn't get the dress cheaper anywher else

Re: dress buying q
For my dress, I only called like 2 other stores and they were either higher or the same price. Either way, I felt most comfortable at my store so I was going to stay there anyway unless it was a huge difference in price. For the MOB dress, I called around but after the fact when I saw her paperwork and saw fees that made no sense. We found out we were pretty much being robbed and lied to at the place, we got the deposit back and reordeded it at another place.

I find a lot of stores when you are there try to tell you about this 'great' deal you're getting and all the discounts they are giving you but sometimes it really isnt true. I called around and got the best price and then called the store I liked to see if they could match it. I had stores tell me that they would give me an excellent price if I'd come in to get it and when I did it was more expensive then anywhere else. It happened to me at Lilettes. I gave them the price I got elsewhere, they told me to come in and they gave me a higher price.
Village Bridal and Helen's were the best to work with. I loved Helen's but my mom was concerned because they werent on the list of authorized dealers for my dress.

Re: dress buying q
Well I was told that my dress was exclusive to the store that I bought by the company so I didn't but I totally would have if it wasn't.

I did and I used each store against the other. I wound up getting a huge discount but also a smaller cap on my alterations. its worth it!

Re: dress buying q
Nope because my dress was 950 before the hollow hem, tax and the alteration cap.
