I have a pic of a Nicole Miller wedding dress in my profile that I really like (Silk Dupioni). I called the 2 stores in Manhattan and one store has the dress in a size 4. The dress is discountined and she said the 4 can be altered to my size (2), but it is dirty because it has been in the store for over a year. I think I will go and try it on, but wondering if the gown (after dry cleaning) will be restored to its orginal condition. Another problem is that the gown is white. Eventhough we plan on having a summer wedding and I will be sporting a nice golden glow, I don't know if white is appropraite for my skin tone (irish, but not too pale). I guess I have nothing to lose by trying it on, but wanted your opinions. Another major plus is that the dress is very inexpensive ($300.)
-- Is anyone wearing a white gown?
-- Would you buy a gown that has been laying around the store for over a year with endless # of people trying it on?
I know I should follow my heart, but my heart is confused!!!!

Dress Dilemma
I would go look at the dress first before making any decisions. You could also try it on and hate it. Once you see it on and see how dirty it is I would go from there. $300 is an amazing price!

If you love this dress and it is only $300 it cannot hurt to get it. But alterations will be costly. Did you try the designer. They may have additional places you can purchase the dress and also try the Internet.
Lots of girls buy Sample gowns and those have been tried on by lots of girls so no big deal.

Dress Dilemma
If you like it, you can ask them to dry clean the gown before you decide to get it. A reputable store would do that. You can then see the condition the gown is in. I never thought I would buy a sample gown, but I have a similar situation as you. I ordered the gown, then the designer discontinued it. The store had the gown dry cleaned before I came back to decide on the sample or a new dress. I decided on the sample, and they gave me a good deal on it. It will have some rebeading that needs to be done, and alterations, but it cleaned perfectly, and looked like new.
