Dress Dilemma-- please help if you can!

Hi Girls,
Since I know some of you girls are very resourceful, I thought I'd ask you for help.

I have always loved Maggie Sottero's 'Felicity' dress, and thought of it as 'THE dress', even though I never tried it on.

Yesterday I went to Macy's Bridal Salon, and showed them a picture of 'Felicity'. Although they did not have that exact dress, they had a Demetrios dress that was similar. The only thing I didn't like about that dress was the embroidery on it was a lot bigger than the embroidery on 'Felicity', and I'm more of a simple, subdued person. But, I loved the sleeves on the dress-- they weren't full cap sleeves, and they looked very elegant.

After Macy's, I went to Lilette's (wonderful salon) to try on 'Felicity'. I LOVED the dress itself... it was perfect, the embroidery was simple yet elegant. But I felt the sleeves were just too much-- they were full cap sleeves, and were made of mesh, which I felt made the dress look a little cheap.

So now I am faced with a dilemma-- buy the dress I love, which has the sleeves I don't like so much... or buy the dress I like a whole lot, which has the sleeves I really like.

I was hoping you resourceful girls could possibly know of other dresses that look similar to these-- maybe if I find another similar dress, I will like it even better than these two.

I'm trying to attach some pictures, hopefully it will work. 'Felicity' will be first, then will be the Demetrios dress. Please let me know your opinion on the situation, and also let me know of other dresses that are similar.

Thanks so much, girls-- you guys are the best!

don't buy a dress because of a name or a designer. buy the one you love and looks best on you!

I am sure that they can change the sleeves on the maggie dress if you absolutely love the rest of it.
However, I would recommend to try on some other styles of dressses.. I know I am not the only one here who would say they dress I wound up ordering is nothing close to what I thought I would love!

I definitely don't think you should get a dress that you don't like the sleeves on....I think you should get the 'other' one.

I picked out a dress I LOVED too, but when I got it on I didn't like it on me at all. It happens to us all. I ended up getting a very different dress than I thought I would.

What about possibly having the dress made...that way it would be exactly what you want. They dress maker could blend the 2 designs together and it would be perfect...plus it could be alot cheaper Just an idea

the sleeves on the Felicity dress are detatchable... I loved that dress from the picture too, but was unable to try it on in any place with the sleeves... all the places had lost them!!

The Maggie Sotterro 'Dynasty' is similar...i think you should keep looking until you find the dress that you love every part of and don't worry about the designer! Just go with what you love!! Good luck and keep us updated!!!

Thanks so much for posting the dress, Christine-- I couldn't seem to get it to work for me!
And thanks girls for all your help... please keep the suggestions coming!

i would wait a week or two and then go back and try them both on again in the same day. Clear your mind of what you think you want, and go with your gut on what it says.

Good Luck!

You should be able to have the sleeves changed. A friend of mine had bought a strapless dress that she loved, but wanted the security of straps and she went to a seemstress (SP?) and she added little spaghetti straps to her dress.
If anything you can have them removed and cut to be shorter in width and re-attached...But all in all choose the dress that you love and looks good on.
