Dress Dilemma...I don't know what to do, opinions please?!?!?! (KINDA LONG)

Original post by dancinmyazoff

Alright, so I did ALL my research for a while and last fall I bought my dress (Maggie Sottero Capri) and absolutely love it. I can look all day at dresses in magazines, online, wedding pictures, etc. and I've found NOTHING that I love more than my dress...until now The lovely Nicole (TheFutureMrsM) posted her Kenneth Pool Degas dress the other day and I was like Well I kept going on the Kenneth Pool website and staring at the dress so I decided to go try it on to get it out of my mind because it probably wouldn't look good on me....WELL last night I went by myself and tried it on and OMGoodness I can't even tell you how amazing it looked on. It's even more beautiful in person. I'm now torn and in love with two dresses (lol sounds funny but it's better than being in love with two people ). I wish I had pictures of both dresses on me....but regardless they're both soooo different...and so are their price tags. My Maggie is actually in already but I haven't gone to try on 'my' dress. Now I have no clue what to do I haven't told my mom about it yet I don't know what she'd say

Please help

both are beautiful and im sure u look great in both. try on the maggie again if you havent tried it on in awhile.

I like Denise's idea of the 20 pics- (such a smart girl) i never thought to do this and i live in fear that FH wont like my dress..anyway...

As for the price difference: think of all the stuff you can buy with the money if you keep the maggie- house stuff, shoes, clothes.....

good luck- keep us posted.

advice from a girl who bought a dress, and changed her mind, then bought a new one....if you really feel like the KP dress is 'the one'...then go for it. but i really think you should try on the Maggie dress again, b/c i am sure that your original dress is probably just as beautiful on you. they are 2 very different dresses, so it really depends on the look and feel that you want to have. Is there anything about the maggie dress that u are unsure about?

I would also think about the $ (considering KP dresses are a lot more than Maggie) and try to prioritize what you are able to and willing to spend. If you can afford it, then again, i say go for it. If you are not sure...then i would think about it. Also talk to your mom about it and she what she thinks...i know when i initially brought up switching my dress to my mom she was a little upset about it...but after talking about it, and trying on new dresses with my mom, we realized that my 'new' dress was really meant to be. So...now of course i am trying to sell my Kenneth Pool gown, lol (too bad it's not the same one).

I have to agree with the last few people...I certainly don't know you from Eve, but it really seems like if you are beating yourself up over this, then the KP is the one your heart really wants. If this was about flowers or placecards, of course financial matters can and will trump your heart. BUT, and this is just my humble 'ole opinion, when it comes to your hall and your DRESS, you have to let your heart decide.* If it's what you really want, return/sell your other dress and try to find another area to cut back to make up as much of the cost difference as you can!

* Within reason of course, and yes, this is coming from someone who is paying 100% of their own costs

That would definitely be meant to be if you were selling the Degas...how are you going about selling your dress? I looked on craigs list and that seems the most worth it cause ebay doesn't seems worth it at all.

There are a few other sell your dress websites.
Google sell your wedding gown or dress.

See all the sites that come up!

Sorry to crash ... one other girl on here mentioned this, but I really think you should take pictures of yourself in each dress and view them when you get home. Seeing yourself in these dresses side by side might help you make the decision. Then if you decide you love the KP more - buy it!

This may be stupid, but this is what my FH always makes me do when I am having trouble making a decision (which is often lately)...make one dress 'heads' and one dress 'tails,' then flip a coin. If one wins and you feel happy, then that was your choice all along. If one wins and you feel disapointed, then your heart wants the other and you should make that your choice.

For the record, I think both are beautiful and you can't go wrong.

My FH makes me do this tooo and it was totally gonna be my suggestion.

Both gowns are amazingly gorgeous.
Try YOUR gown on. the one you ordered b/c you said it's in already right? So try it on in your size and see how you feel. You can't decide anything till you do that.

then do the coin thing and see if you're happy about it or not. it works

That's a tough one.... Try to envision yourself walking down the aisle and which dress do you see yourself in?

I was just going to say the same thing- what dress do you envision yourself in?

Honestly (and this is my taste) I love the MS one.

im sorry you are going thru this dilemma; i won't give an opinion on either dress, but I will give some heartfelt advice. Try to keep things in perspective, and remember its about marrying your soulmate, celebrating with family and friends. Please don't let yourself be tormented by this!

I am a week away from my wedding, and I recently posted on here that I was looking thru some bridal magazines i had laying around and I saw a dress in there I thought was more beautiful than mine and I wanted to scream. But in the end I know my dress will be stunning and i'm sure yours will too!!!

best of luck to you!
