dress dilemna

dress dilemna

ok another question

soooo I said 'yes' to a dress awhile ago

i put down a small deposit to lock in the sale price of the dress...but have not ordered it yet

the dress is WAY more than what I wanted to spend...but I had searched and searched and found nothing...of course I fall in love with a crazy expensive dress

FH thinks I should look at least one more time before I order my dress to try and find something cheaper

I would have to pay for half or maybe even 3/4 of this dress...my mom would pay for some

Should I look one last time???

my other dilemna is that they are having a KP trunk show debuting his new 2011 line next week and Id like to go see what he has since 'my dress' is a KP

BUT I dont know if I should step foot into the salon where I put the small deposit down if im not ready to purchase my dress??

but i reallllllly wanna go see his new line, plus u get 15% off at a trunk show!

helpppp!

Ok...definitely look again! It can't hurt! How much deposit did you put? I wouldn't worry about going into the place...they got money out of you! They dont care. If you found another dress by the same designer do you think they would apply your deposit to the new dress??? Either way they are still getting the money.

i havent gone dress shopping yet....but if i was in your situation id def go look again just to reassure yourself and then making that big purchase wont feel as bad spending that money

You have time so keep looking. My dream dress is also KP... sniff sniff, but i dont want to spend so much on a dress, but if i dont find something that I LOVEEEE like that one, then i will get it, but so have i have a smilar dress for 4,300 less

it cant hurt to look.....but once u fall in love w/ a dress its hard to settle for something else

Re: dress dilemna

Definitely keep looking so you can be sure. I went dress shopping certain that I was going to keep my original dress and I was just going to look to make sure there was nothing else out there. I was way wrong! Maybe you'll find something just as incredible if not better than your original dress for a better price.

Either way it will help put your FH's mind at ease.

Re: dress dilemna

I put 300 down

so if I find something else AT the salon, Im sure they will let me put it towards the new dress

but checking out KP Is not going to help me find a cheaper dress! lol

I dont think that the wedding salon has many dresses under 3k

I love love love my dress and Ill spend the money on it if I have to

but it def makes sense in my head for me to go look one more time and see what's out there

wont it be awkward for me to go there and talk to the lady that has helped me out (3x already), try on more dresses...and then walk out and be like ummm ya im still not ready to order??

they have called me a few times already asking when im going to order the dress

I wouldn't worry about it, it happens all the time at bridal salons.

i say, definitely go back and check out the KP trunk show because you might find something else you like or you can go to another salon with slightly cheaper dresses just ease your mind (and your FH). I went to one bridal salon 3 times (a fourth time with my best friend who is also getting married) and I see the same saleslady who helped me each time and she asks me when I am ready to buy. And as much as I love the dress...my heart is set on another dress that this store does not carry (so i cant compare the two dresses!) so frustrating! anyway go to the KP trunk show and enjoy!

Re: dress dilemna

sooooo....you girls think its fine to go

and when they ask if im ready to order, say no??

i feel bad bc they said bc it was a trunk show the order needs to go in??

but i told them i dont have a date yet and dont feel comfortable ordering a dress without a wedding date

I guess I should keep going with that?

Re: dress dilemna

definately look at the trunk show!! i would totally go! and then if you don't like anything, keep looking some more!
your not getting married for over a year yet and you have a deposit to lock in the price so you know the dress is there waiting for you if you find something else. keep looking. if by the one year mark you don't find anything else, then buy this one!

Not sure how it works at your salon, but my experience at the trunk show was that I had to pay for the dress in full to get the trunk show full discount. So keep that in mind if you do go and find something you love there. Find out up front what their policy is for trunk show and how it works. I fell in love with my dress that the show and had no problem paying for it at that moment. You may not feel the same way and may feel backed into a corner if this is their policy.

If it's not, than I say go for it. Check it out, it can't hurt. But don't settle. I know we all want to save money, and it seems silly to spend thousands on a dress that we are wearing for a few hours, but to me, those hours are going to be spent shaping the rest of your life. These will be some of the most important hours of your life. Wear what you love, what makes you feel like a bride, what reflects your emotions for the day the best. Enoy it girl!!!!

Re: dress dilemna

you're probably right...the only reason (i think) they let me put a small deposit to hold the price is because i didn't have a wedding date yet and they did it as a courtesy bc i loved the dress

i am going to just call and see what they say!

Re: dress dilemna

okkkk so heres a lil update for those who care lol

i called wedding salon and spoke to my saleslady and she told me to wait until June when they have the next KP trunk show, she said that will be the last one until the fall....so that gives me some time to sit on this decision and look a lil bit...and then i can order my dress at the year mark if i stick with my original choice

anddd then I made an appointment to try on dresses at Village Bridal on Sunday!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Village Bridal in Babylon that is where I got my dress!! They have so many beautiful dresses and they are reasonably priced! They even beat a price that i saw at another shop by a decent amount. All the woman there are great and they are sooo helpful. I tried on soo many dresses and they were just so patient and kind and even let me take pics!! I put a deposit down on my dress already but the order is not going to be placed yet bc otherwise it will come in to soon! I guess if I did change my mind i have time but i have been so indecisive about everything else but my dress i love!!!

LOL, ok, I do think it's better to wait til June to go... at least you'll know better then whether you can really spend the money or not, you know?

But if he goal is to try to find a cheaper dress, isn't going to a KP trunk show like a recovering addict going to the coke den? Why do you want to torture yourself like that? lol

If you love the KP dress you already picked out, I don't see the point... but that's me.
Unless you DON'T really love it and you're starting over... that's a different story, but I'd still try to avoid a circumstance that's going to encourage me to spend more money than I'd like..

This is why I'm not looking at dresses yet, I have too much time to think about it.

So full of dilemmas recently! lol

yessss I am a 'coke addict' when it comes to dress shopping

and you are 100% right it doesn't make sense for me to go, NOW

the june show actually works out well for me...I can shop around until then and if I dont find something cheaper then I can go back in June and see his new line

the thing is if im going to spend 5k on a dress, Id like to explore all my '5k' options...when i found my dress...i loved sooo many of the KPs, I honestly had a hard time narrowing it down!

anyway, we will see what happens! and ill let you know obviously!

thanks for the advice!

Re: dress dilemna

i agree with many of the girls and look again. if you happen to find another dress in the same salon perhaps they will honor the deposit and apply it to the new dress you chose. it can either help you find a new, cheaper dress or just confirm that the dress IS the one for you! i say go for it!
