I don't even know what to do. I cannot return or exchange the dress. It has been discontinued. I tried it on at a store and it fit fine. So, I ordered the same size from an internet vendor. I have not gained or lost any weight.
The seamstress said to DIET and EXERCISE and come back May 1. But, she said that if I stay the same size, there is no way she can make it fit...

Re: dress doesn't fit...seamstress is worried
Talk to a different seamstress. My sister was way too big for her BM dress and the seamstress said she could make it fit. BTW...When you try the stuff on in the stores they are all stretched from having people try them on and from hanging on the hangers. I would definitely see a different seamstress or contact the company and see what they can do, I have heard of them making up dresses in less than two weeks.

is it really that small? will it zip up? can't she add more material? I would talk to another seamstress and see what they say... GOOD LUCK

We can hook it, but it's the top that's too small. the hip area is fine, it's just the top. She can add fabric, but there isn't enough to make it as big as it needs to be right now

I would definetly go to another seamstress.

so the only problem is the top? why can't she just add a lot of extra fabric?

She can add more fabric, but the problem is that the entire bodice is beaded and we don't have any extra beads...

hmmmmmmmmm, i would be very careful with this and get some recommendations from a reputable seamstress (how did you find this person, did she already come recommended?). i would try to lose the weight if possible, but would have to see how it looks on prior to making adjustments to make it bigger...
can you post a pic of the dress? where would the extra material go? it may not be such a big deal if you get creative and the job is well done...

I left the dress with her so that she can start 'harvesting' some of the extra fabric from other areas of the dress. She did come recommended. She owns her own shop and ONLY does alterations- she doesn't even sell anything. She used to make gowns, but she prefers doing alterations instead of making the entire gown...

Edited to say: it's the Mori Lee #3817. It's hard to find a photo because it's discontinued. But, I think there's still a shop that comes up on google that is still selling it.
She'd be putting the extra fabric on the back of the bodice near the zipper and buttons.
edited to say: and, my cleavage is popping out from the top WAY TOO MUCH

even if they added fabric to the sides, and the sides under the arms wasnt beaded, it would still look fine.It would look like thats the pattern to the dress. try diet and exersize, but perhaps get a second opinion? there has to be someting they can do.

yes, yes, yes!!! Wow, you found it!
So, it won't jip up at the bust...

can't find a view of the back, though...
i would opt for the extra material because the last thing you want to be is a totally uncomfortable boobzilla
it's a beautiful dress, if the seamstress is good and honest (which it sounds like she is) then i would follow her advice and hope for the best!
