So the other night I had a wedding nightmare that FH and I decided to do a 'first look' before the ceremony. In my dream, FH saw my dress and told me that he wished I had spent more money on my dress. (Which is not something FH would ever say! lol) Oh, and keep in mind that FH always said that he pictures me in something simple, even like a sheath. (My body type however would not look good in that.)
I bought my dress last year when we were planning a July 2010 tent wedding in a field. I thought it fit the location perfectly and it had everything that I was looking for in a dress. Simple, pretty, not overwhelming, sparkly, sweetheart neckline, lace-up back, and a dropped waist. I look silly in ball gowns! I had found my dress on the clearance rack of DB and I was super happy. Every time I tried on the dress, I didn't want to take it off. I think I've worn it at least 5 hours between store visits!
Fast forward to now. We are getting married in the beginning of May, in a gorgeous, modern reception hall. My dress is hanging in my closet and I haven't been able to try it on since changing venues. I'm so worried that the hall will overpower my dress! Is it too simple? Will I look out of place? Should I add stuff to my dress? Should I change my dress completely? I'm so confused!
FH told me that I should try on the dress again with his mom and get her opinion. He wants me to go look at more dresses to be sure.
I love this dress, but I hate having 2nd thoughts about it! FH really does not like the fact that I had a nightmare about this either!
I think its beautiful - and I dont think your RH would overpower the dress at all.

I think the dress is really pretty and not plain at all. If you want maybe add some more detailing to make it sparkle a little more. I think it will be nicely with your hall

I remember seeing a pic of this dress before and I think it's beautiful and don't think it will be too little for your RH. I wouldn't change it but if do still feel that this is not THE dress than I suggest maybe going to try on a few more just to make sure.

I'm a CB bride too, so I know what you mean by overpowering the dress, but I really don't think you're in any danger of that happening :) The dress is lovely and it looks great on you.

Re: Dress doubts, honest opinions please!
i think this dress is tunning just the way it is. when you plan a wedding or soemthing really equally big and important like this, its natural for some fears to come out subconciously through dreams. they are just that, dreams.
this dress would look good at any RH and i think you should stop second guessing yourself!

Re: Dress doubts, honest opinions please!
I will be getting a very similar dress and I am having a reception hall wedding. Why do you think it isn't fancy enough? It is beautiful! It is about how you feel in the dress, not where the dress is located.

Re: Dress doubts, honest opinions please!
I think the dress is beautiful. Your nightmares are just your own fears about the situation. I am sure the hall is not going to overpower your dress. When you hair, makeup, and dress are on you are going to look like the most beautiful person in the room!
If you are second guessing the dress. Go and try on a couple of different dresses it will confirm if you really love the dress or if you purchase a different one.
