Dress Drama

Dress Drama

I fell in love with a dress in Syracuse, but the salons that carry the designer does not have a sample of my dress in their shops. Should I buy it from Syracuse (the sample dress fits me, and there is no damage to it- I went over it METICULOUSLY) and then try to find a person to help with alterations if necessary; or should I order it through the salon here and hope it fits the same?

Please help!

order the one you know fits... you can find plenty of people in your area to alter it

why wouldn't it fit the same? i'm confused ....

unless the syracuse place is going to give you a huge discount for buying a display model dress, buy it from a local salon.

If you've already tried it on and love it, there's no reason you can't order it from a store even if they don't have a sample.

I found my gown at one store, but wasn't happy with the customer service there. I ended up ordering it from another store that didn't have the sample. They measured me using a similar gown from the same designer. My gown came back in December and it's perfect

mostly because the sample is likely not still in the same condition as it was when it was new... its probably been stretched a little... my brand new dress in the size i tried on in the store didnt fit the same... it was tighter

is it in the color that you want? do you mind not wearing a new dress? if you don't mind then i think you should buy it and since its a sample get the price down

i agree. if the dress fit and you dont mind wearing a sample dress, then i say go for it... but if you do, then just order it from a local salon.

I don't think sizing would be a factor in ordering from a salon or not. But if you don't mind wearing a sample, then do it for the price!!

order it through the salon. I wouldn't take a chance with the sample unless I had to.

i would order a brand new dress

samples tend to be stretched out

the new dress will fit! they will measure you and order the right size!

ITA...samples can strech and once the gown is in the 'light' there might be stains/damage to the gown that can't be seen in store light...

They should take your measurements and use the designers chart to determine the size. A new dress will fit true to the size that is ordered based on measurements.

I have heard that some shops order dresses bigger even though they measure you. I'm not sure if they are afraid that it might come in a bit tight and it's easier to take in than let out. or deliberately order larger to stick you with alterations.

As to not fitting identicallly - - with quality control they way it is I wouldn't be surprised for it to fit differently. How many times can you try clothes on in the store - - same size, different color etc and they fit differently. I really don't think a wedding dress is any different despite the high $$$.
