Dress Expectations

Hi Ladies,

I've got my first dress shopping appointment on Dec. 18th. After looking at tons of dresses, I've found one that I'm in love with, and that fits FH's criteria (we've decided that we get a say in what each other wears). The store has a sample and it's within my budget.

I just wanted to ask whether any of you girls who've already bought your dress had the experience of falling in love with a dress you saw online, but hating it when you finally saw it in person? I'm starting to worry that I won't like it when I see it, but it's sooo beautiful, how could that be?!

I fell in love with one online and hunted it down. When I got to the store I tried that one on first and then a few others. The one I hunted down just didn't look right on me but I did fall in love with another dress and it was around the same price

I had a bunch of dresses picked out from searching online, but once I starting trying dresses on I realized that the style I originally loved did not look good on me. I ended up with something different.

Re: Dress Expectations

I found a dress online that I LOVED and thought it was the one and so did oen of my bridesmaids. But when I tried it on it just looked so silly in person (the actual fabric/design) and it didn't fit right on me either. So I gave up on that pretty quickly and went on with the search, but I found something I LOVED when I tried it on! Funny thing, when I looked it up online later? I hated the picture of it! It looked so different in person, I would have never picked it from the picture online.

So don't be disappointed if you don't love it, that just meants you were destined for another dress. :)

Same..there were a few dresses I loved in the catalouge and when I tried it on didn't look right...or one I HUNTED down and when I tried it on...wasn't crazy about it. But found my dress hunting down the wrong one

I think this is a common problem. I LOVED a dress online for a very long time and I had to try it on first after I got engaged. It was a big let down that I didn't love it on me but ultimately I did find a dress that I loved and I know 'it's' the dress I should be wearing.

Wedding dresses are not like other dresses. You need to try different cuts and you might be pleasantly surprised.

Yes... I was in love with a mermaid gown at David's Bridal for about a year. When I finally went to try it on, it was hiddeous!!! I ended up wearing a lace dress with a similar fitted shape. Enjoy dress shopping! You will know when you find the right dress. And don't be discouraged if the one you love online isn't the one

This!! I selected several styles but I had my heart set on lace. I tried several dresses and ended up with something totally opposite. Good luck with your search. It's so much fun!

I fell in love with the same dress I fell in love with online.

I didn't go with the one I fell in love with online. In fact, I find few people actually do. Try it on first! There's no rush and there's nothing quite like trying on those gorgeous white dresses. If I could've dragged my shopping experience out a little longer, I would've!

That happened to me, too! I was THIS close to buying this dress because it was stunning in person. The saleswoman told me it was a Maggie Sottero and I told her that was impossible, I know EVERY Maggie. She was right, I was wrong. It was in a different color (Ivory in the store, white with silver accents online) on the website and looked like a completely different dress. I hated the look of it online but it was STUNNING in person.
