I've started my dress fitting and had a question regarding the ultimate length of your dress upon alteration.
Does the hem of your dress:
(a) touch/graze the floor (b) 1 inch off the floor (c) other, please describe
Upon bustling, does hem of you dress in back where the bustle is:
(d) touch/graze the floor (e) 1 inch off the floor

Re: Dress Fitting & Dress Length
I believe the hem of the dress is supposed to be 1/4 to 1/2 inch off the floor. The bustle is up to you.

Re: Dress Fitting & Dress Length
Dress length is a major pet peeve of mine, I feel brides often hem their dress too short! When you are standing still your dress should just meet the floor, you should see no feet unless you are walking and then it should be just a glimpse of feet, not big old feet and ankles!

I like when it grazes the floor....that way it looks like you are floating across the floor :)
but that's just me.....

I agree - JUST touching the floor seems so nice. I hate when I can see the stockings of the bride!

I agree with EvenEden. The bustle should reach the floor and sweep a little. it shouldnt be above the floor.
