Dress Fitting Vent!

Dress Fitting Vent!

I went on Saturday for my first fitting I was all excited to go! I didn't expect my alterations were gonna be this much! $427!!! The seamstress asked me if I was going to be loosing anymore weight. She told me I can loose about another pound and a half but after that they would have to open up the back of my dress to let it out and I would loose the bead work and the criss cross from the corset!! I do not want to loose my bead work. Dad has already offered to pay the extra. But he doesn't get I don't want to loose the effects of the back of my dress!!!!

I think I may take my dress and go to a private seamstress! I don't know yet. I didn't think it would be this much, maybe around 3!!! Ugh....

I don't understand if your dress is being taken in why would they let it out in the back? Unless they are using the back to take it in and that would take away from the detail work.

Is there a cap of alterations when you had ordered the dress? My cap was $350 and we were charged 350 because I had lost 25lbs by the time the dress had come in.

This is after my first fitting. If I come back and I have lost more weight there is no more to take in where they have to open up! Mom told me to relax cause I have lost nearly 30 pounds since Jan and look fantastic!

Jenn, can I ask where you are getting your alterations done? Where did you get your dress?

Ugh! I see you are getting married at the Meadow Club which is kinda near where I live so I am thinking it is possible we went to the same salon. Can you FM me where? I am going for my first fitting on Aug 12th and expect the cap of $250 which is what they promised me. Lemme know!

It stinks that they can charge that much. I know on my receipt they capped it around that price as well. I am bringing it to my mother's friend though who is a professional seamstress. I refuse to pay so much money for the dress and than add on another 400-500 bucks!

I got my dress at Helen's Bridal. The basic alterations are $295 and Bussle is $99. I didn't think on the basic alterations they would be the total of $295!!!

It's always good to have a cap! Any chance you can take it to a private seamstress??
