Okay, so I bought a sample dress which is being profesionally cleaned and stored, but it does need alterations. What is the typical timeline for fittings? If I'm getting married in August, would my first fitting be in May or June?

I would go with June maybe for your first fitting - imo. Im going mid april for mine and im getting married in the beginning of June. The bridal store told me 6 to 8 weeks before my date would be when to go. Hope that helps!

I will be going for my first fitting in early/mid April for my June 12th wedding, so I would say about a month and a half to two months before.

I did my first one exactly one month before my day...on Feb 6 and did one on the 21 and final fitting on the 28th. Dad picked up the dress MArch 5th.
