OK, so I am in a panic. Yesterday, I went to pick up my dress. The sample dress fit me pretty much perfect. I really didnt need any alterations. So, I try on the dress yesterday and I notice that you can see the tips of my shoes. So I comment that it looks too short to me, and the sales person helping me said, 'no it's fine, you dont want it any longer or you will be tripping over it', and my friend agreed with her. I am worried, I think it should be longer. What is your opinion? I am thinking of going and trying on the sample dress again at another store to see how the length is.

Re: Dress length
I am having the same exact problem. I loved the way my dress looked on me when I tried on the sample but when I went for my first fitting I felt like it was too short. Everyone keeps telling me it is perfect the way it is, but I want it touching the floor.

Re: Dress length
Isn't it annoying? I dont know what to do? I swear..the sample was longer!! That is why I am thinking of going to another store and trying on the dress, in the same size there. Luckily I have 11 months until my wedding..if the sample is longer, I am going back and making them exchange my dress. My sister in laws both kept telling me that the length was fine, but it is really bugging me. It just seems a tad bit short. I am just afraid that I will listen to everyone and then get my pics back and see that I was right all along.
What are you going to do?

I haven't gotten mine in yet, but would you consider going for a lower heel?

Re: Dress length
The sample is definetly going to be longer. It has to do with the way they measure you. My dress is just a tad bit off the floor but for me it looks short. I asked my sister and other BM that were there and they said it looked perfect but to it me I wanted it longer. I am going for a second fitting on Saturday and If I think it is still too short I will ask them what they can do. The bottom of my dress has some tooling so maybe they can take some out to make it drop so it will be longer. Otherwise maybe I will switch my shoes with a lower heel.
Just tell the salon that you want it longer. See if they can fix it to make it longer somehow.

Re: Dress length
so I called the dress place and told them my situation, she told me that the sample could have stretched, that it would have been longer. Then she asked my height (5'5 1/2') she said the dress is made for up to 5'7' and it should not been short enough where you see my shoe, perhaps the factory sent a petitie that was marked as a regular. She also told me that since it is mermaid that perhaps it was not laying right...but i dont buy it. So...looks like I am going to go back and have them reorder my dress., once I speak to the alterations dept. I have 11 months..so I might as well.

My fiance is 'vertically challenged', I am only wearing a 1 3/4' heel as it is...I dont wanna wear flats.

Re: Dress length
This exact thing happend to me and I paid extra money to have my dress made to my height requirement. I bought my shoes before my dress and never considered changing it.
The store had to alter my dress. Day of the wedding it was about a half an inch too short and that wound up being a good thing. No one stepped on my bustle and it held all night. The pictures of our first dance my husband was able to slip the top of his shoe under the dress.
