Have any of you had a seamstress handmake your dress from scratch? Was it very pricey? I am in love with a dress but it's just out of my budget. I am thinking of bringing a picture to a seamstress to see if he/she will be able to duplicate it. But the price has to be right!

It's very pricey especially in New York. It will cost more than ordering the dress.
I am using a dress maker in Florida, I am taking the trip down there but decided to make it a trip with my bridesmaids. Measurements were taken over the phone, each part of your body is measured. Then, I am going to try the dress on in person when it comes in.
I paid half of what I would have paid from the designer and was able to customize the dress. The dresses are still made overseas like all the others out there but Ella is the lead designer and has the connections with good manufacturers.

Yes this is what I'm doing. I've been in touch with this very good designer overseas and I'm paying about half the price of the dress than if I were to get it here. I had my measurements done here and I just emailed it to them. They created the design for me and the bridal party as well. All I can say is, this way worked for me since I know the designer already and his work. I have the sketches on my album if you wanna talk a look. Good luck!
