Dress Material...

I'm realllllllly nervous

I went to see my dress yesterday (being custom made)
And, it was in diamond white, when I specifically asked for ivory

Anyways, my wedding isnt for another year, so she said it wasnt a problem...the shape of the dress was exactly what I wanted.

But, something that is really bothering me is that she wanted to give me a swatch of the color she'd be using and she hands me this swatch that looks diamond white again - so I tell her that this is NOT ivory - so then she finds another and it was the right color....but, HOW DO I KNOW IF SHE'S MAKING IT WITH CHEESY MATERIAL? SINCE IT'S BEING MADE BY HER I HAVE NO WAY OF KNOWING HOW 'GOOD' THE MATERIAL IS......

Please help!

did you ask her what material she is using? also before she made it you should've requested what you wanted, can you still do that.

just call her and ask about fabric she plans on using

My aunt is a seamstress for Nordstrom but she also works from her home. She usually goes with her customers into the city and they purchase the material together.

I would definitely ask her to physically see the material....not a swatch!!!

i'd also ask the question, 'are you color blind?' JK! seriously, i would just ask if i can come by and see the material before any production starts

I called her and was told it was italian satin

but I kinda got the impression that she was annoyed that I was asking - even though that's ridiculous

I feel like she wants me to just trust her - but it's my BIG DAYYYYYYYY
and when someone doesnt even like me asking a simple question, well, that makes me NOT trust them....grrr

i'm sorry you have to deal with this but i thought i'd mention that i've tried on a LOT of ivory gowns that to me look diamond white.
differant designers have a differant concept of that color.
Some designers use diamond white, others only have white and ivory.
some ivory looks really dark and almost yellow/tan while others just look 'almost white'

i wouldnt be too angry with her about the color if you hadnt shown her exactly what you wanted before hand.

as far as her getting angry about the material goes, that's just stupid and i probobly would have flipped out on her.
