Just a bit. I'd be afraid that I'd end up changing my mind about the type of gown I want and then losing my money.

Re: Dress question...
I think as long as she has a safe, clean place to keep it it's fine. I know someone who bought her dress and got it home a full year before, but her whole family smokes. That's not a good idea.

Well, the dress will not actually be delivered to the store until 3 months before the wedding. But still!

If that was the case then my only concern would be about the changing styles... at least she got one thing off the list quickly! LOL

Re: Dress question...
Well, some people feel the dress is the first thing to do after the hall, so I guess if you want to make the most of the 2 years, I guess you have to start early with the dress.
For me, it would have been too early. I was only engaged for 11 months!

Re: Dress question...
That does sounds a little early. but i ordered early also. i ordered my gown 1 and a half years prior to my date. i thought it was early, but i knew exactly what i wanted so i didn'tcare. (and to this date i have not seen anything i liked better). But as far as paying, i ordered my dress from Kleinfeld's and they require 60% deposit, so that is what i paid so far. So i guess what your friend did is not that odd.

Re: Dress question...
Did you she pay in full? That would be the only part that is a little weird to me. I ordered my gown 1 year and 4 months prior to my wedding, but it's an Amsale that she had just started making...so it took 12 months for it to come in. I only paid a deposit to Kleinfeld's though, and then balance when the gown came in. I wouldn't pay in full that far in advance...what if (god forbid) something happens to the dress?
